Ugly Stik GX2 Spinning Reel and Fishing Rod Combo

I have been steady using this rod for 2 years now, all I can say is it’s the best all around rod. I’ve caught perch, catfish,even turtles (unintentionally) (personal fav) bass all kinds. I matched it with the braided line 30lb 150yards, works a charm. Never have any back lash. Anything that gets tangled is easily undone, I’ve used this in ponds, in lakes. You name it I’ve used it. I’ve bought other rods as (play) rods if you will and I always find myself going right back to my gx2 the cast is without a doubt the best in the market. The rod splits into two if I need to take it somewhere. It’s light weight but not the durability this thing can pull some monsters. Biggest I pulled in was an 8lb didn’t need a net anything after you’ll need a net. The rod is all around one of the best things I am literally buying another as we speak hence why I came back to write a review. Beyond amazing between the cast I get about 50 yards (pushing it with a weighted hook and that’s it) so the cast is smooth nice and goes, the flexibility as you get bit, I mean you can feel every chop. And yes you can pull up the cats, picture above is some of many catches with this rod! Save yourself the time and money and buy this rod you’ll thank me later!!

Great product for the money. Works well with 4lb test line for trout in our rivers and for panfish in our very clear lakes.

I got this rod because I heard it was very beginner friendly and indestructible. I have zero experience fishing but this rod was easy enough to set up with the help of YouTube. Many coworkers recommended this rod for my area which has fish as small as bluegill all the way up to salmon. For the price, I am told you cannot beat it. I’m looking forward to learning.

The reel is smooth and the rod handles well except, it doesn't fit snugly together like it should but i can deal with that

Got this as my first ultra light rod for when the big fish aren’t biting and man i love it. I’ve already caught tons of panfish on it with no issue. Bunch of crappie, bluegill, perch, and bass with no issue at all. I spooled it up with 6lb test and I have no complaints. Can’t wait to take it out on the kayak again.

The Ugly Stik GX2 has a known defect - the glue holding the handle in place fails causing the handle to slide freely, exposing the rod innards. No problem you think, they have a 7-year warranty. Think again: I've been trying for 8 weeks (!) to get them to honor my warranty. There is no dispute - they said they would replace it, then they simply stopped answering emails (they've never answered their phone in the numerous times I've called them).I'm finished for good with Ugly Stik. They used to be a reputable company but they no longer are. Meanwhile other brands are offering way better products.

I have known of ugly sticks for many years. It's a good value for a basic setup. The ugly stick has a good reputation and it stood up to it.

Awesome rod for the money. No complaints with the reel. I used it for pike fishin. Got 20 lb braided on the reel, it casts smooth and had no issues pullin up large pike. The price was cheaper than cabelas.

Arrived broken , present for my son and it was delivered broken. Waste of money
