A great innovation! You need this if you make fires outdoors.
This is a great little kit: great performance, light weight, acceptably priced, well made. The bellows is very well made, sturdy, and works extremely well. (Works well for fires in fireplaces too, but a little short for that use.) Buy it, carry it, use it!The "Baddest Bees" tinder fuses work extremely well. Compact, waterproof, fast-starting, hot burning. But be sure to tease them apart into little fluffballs before trying to light them. In contrast, cotton balls impregnated with petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline) are also compact, waterproof, fast-starting , hot burning, and they last longer (all once you tease them apart into fluffballs), and can be made cheaply at home, but your hands get greasy when handling them. The Baddest Bees seem to be wax-impregnated, so there's no greasiness, and they're more compact than cotton balls (but don't burn as long). You choose. The fire steel is a pretty standard product. This one has a nice, ergonomic plastic handle. It's a little short, but then this is a compact kit. You can easily get longer ones if desired. The fire steel striker has serrations on the short end. I found it awkward to use the end, but it strikes easily along the long edge.

Just buy the Bellows, the rest is not worth it. Bellows get five stars and are awesome.
Too expensive for what it is. Save your money and just get the bellows. The bellows are of very good construction and made of 300 series stainless steel. The bellows really work well, much better than I thought. I have been a bushcrafter for 20+ years and never heard of the bellows tube. The bellows are amazing when using on a small wood stove inside of a tent, you have a small coal in the morning... No problem! Throw a piece of split wood on top of a single small coal and use the bellows, in no time you have a roaring fire. The fire steel and striker sucks, looks like cheap Chinese goods. The fire fuses light easily and burn quickly, you're money is better spent on esbit tablets in my opinion.Better than fire fuses and free, dryer lint and Vaseline!

Good basic kit for starting fire......
Epiphany Outdoor Gear Weatherproof Fire Starting Kit I purchased this kit because it contains everything needed to start a fire and it is in a water resistant container that keeps everything together and away from the rain. I tried this in the backyard during a moderate rain storm to see if it would allow me to get a fire burning. It worked as advertised and with a little wind and rain blocking with my body I was able to start a fire with dry paper and then moved onto the damp paper in the burn barrel.I gave 4 stars because I think it could be a bit less expensive but ultimately recommend this especially if you are the type (like me) that will tend to toss things in your backpack. This is kind of set up to make you keep it in the container so you don't have to search for the individual pieces. I am planning on purchasing one for each bag so everyone will have access to fire in a simple, easy to use kit.

Excellent little kit
2019 update: 4 years and I still have the original bellows and the plastic tube this fire kit comes in. The rubber caps still seal perfectly fine and I still use this to start and maintain the fire pit in the backyard, my charcoal grill and our campfires. I like Bee Fire Fuses and I keep getting replacements for this kit. If you fluff just one side it catches easy and you can use it like a mini candle moving flame wherever you need it. There are now some knockoffs around so this kit seems a little expensive but I can vouch for its long term durability.Excellent little kit. The plastic seals fit tightly and have not let any moisture in even in pouring rain. The bees wax tinder comes in another small container within the larger container that's probably not necessary but I am a big fan of overkill. The striker for the fire steel is a little flimsy but works ok in practice. I added some drier lint for extra tinder as there is a little spare room for it (or a cotton ball). Well designed bellows add a surprising amount of air to the fire.

If you Backpack or day hike this is a absolutely ""GREAT"" deal !!! The bellows alone is worth it for the price !! I bought a BELLOWS alone about 3 yrs ago after one backpacking FALL trip where everything was wet and could NOT get a fire started . This bellows makes all the difference !! If you can find tender that will light at all , this bellows WILL cause those embers to STAY lit and start the rest of the base on fire . This is a ABSOLUTE buy for anybody who venture into nature . Fires can be a life saver . OBTW . That Fall trip I had gotten a little wet hiking to camp . Ended up ( Mid- 30's that night predicted ) hiking OUT that night for 3 1/2 hours to get back to my truck . Wet clothes and below 50 deg. is asking to Die !!!!

Amazing Kit!
Well, I cannot say enough good things about this fire starting set. This tiny little package made my life so much easier where I am currently living. I currently reside in a rainforest on an island in southeast Alaska. I have never been in a wetter climate and I have never made fires faster than with this set. The fire starter is simple but it throws an amazing spark and after fraying the top of the baddest bee fire fuses they light easy and burn for an astonishing amount of time. The thing that obviously sets this kit above all others are the pocket bellows. What a simple, fantastic piece of equipment! I have used it a few times now to restart a fire from a few embers and had it grow strong enough to catch on to damp driftwood! In other words, this entire kit is amazing and I would buy it again and again. I'll definitely being getting more fuses once mine are spent!

Cheap handle broke immediately
I took this kit on a camping trip and the handle on the magnesium rod broke the first time I tried to use it. It made starting a fire awkward, but I was still able to do so. However... the fire fuses were so effective that I barely needed to use the bellows. It's nice to have it all in one compact tube, but I'm going to have to replace the magnesium rod, so there goes that.

A unique & simple concept with HIGH value ... saves time and prevents frustration !
When I started looking at a device to assist with fire starting, I was considering a battery-operated device but couldn't see myself backpacking with something like that. While looking at options on Amazon, this product came up as a suggestion and I am so glad it did. I didn't really need the magnesium & striker but don't mind having several ignition sources with me when backpacking...you just never know. The fire fuses are pretty cool, don't weigh much, and work very, very well. Having a storage tube for everything is a nice touch as well but if you are a gram weenie, you may want to exclude the tubes for the fuses and the larger one as well. The star of the show is the telescoping bellows (4"-19"). I have used this to help start my charcoal BBQ and for making fires. It was of particular benefit when trying to start a fire with slightly green wood and zero wind. In this particular case, the bellows were a life save...highly recommended.Pros:- stainless construction- fuses work very well- storage tubes- lightweight bellows (even though made of metal)Cons:- would be nice if price was a bit lower though still very good value given the cold alternativesDurability / Construction - 8/10Functionality - 10/10Value - 9/10I hope you found this review helpful in making your purchase decision.Paul

Great for remote camps and back packers
This is a small lightweight must have for starting fires in all kinds of conditions. the stricken eliminates the need for matches, the infighter cotton illuminates the need for dry brush or moss and the blow tube makes sure there is enough air for the fire to take. A must have for all off road enthusiasts that may require a fire in all kinds of weather.

Blowing Hot Air
The fire starter is minimal, the ferro rod is undersized, the bellows is pricey but has functioned as advertised.
