Q: Some pictures show buckled pouches on the sides, some show zippered pockets. How can I differentiate before my purchase?

I do not know why Aaron leather is showing the picture with the buckled pouch,I paid 139.00 for mine and they were all zippered,I m the reason why there is a 20" (still too big for my use),they only had a 22". You can ask Aaron Leather if they changed the model,I bought mine on 2018 and it is all zippered pockets,nothing protruding...I may even have posted a review.

The only zipper is on the main/top opening. The side pockets are buckled. If you are looking at the same model that I purchased. Inside the bag there are zippered compartments on sides

Unknown . I find the bag to be of higher quality than most .
