Hodgman Men's Pipestone Breathable Booted Chest Wader
I had to go on a fly fishing trip to Idaho. I had no breathable waders, only neoprene at home. I searched the web to find a the best deal and wound up with these waders. I have to admit, I was very concerned at how these waders would work for me. They were great !!! Kept me dry, hardly swetted in them, boots were very light to walk in, no water leaks, size 11 was perfect fit with 2 pairs of socks - I wear a size 10 shoe/sneaker. The pocket tray and zippered compartment behind it was great idea. Did not have to lug around my fishing vest. Everything I needed fit into those compartments and did not buldge or bother me at all. The new material on bottom of boots that are now taking the plase of the felt was just as good as felt but I didn`t feel comfortable with that material thinking that it might tear on sharp rocks or debrie in the water. The material is kind of spongy with a round circular design on them. They held up but after awhile, I put slip on and tie carbide tipped corkers on them which improved traction and grip tremenously. I left these waders at my friends house in Montana for future use and now need to get another pair for here in Pa. I just hope I can find another great deal on the new ones like I did on the other waders. I`m sticking with this brand. 2 of my 13 friends I went fishing with ruined their top of the line waders with tares and got water leaks doing nothing different than what I was doing. Kudos to Hodgeman again for making another great pair of waders at a reasonable price. Good Luck and Hope you all have the same luck as I had with these waders.

Great waders
These are great waders. Super light. After using neoprene waders for years, these are a spectacular change. The boot tread is a bit slippery on clay, but overall pretty good. The tray is useful if you do not close your vest.I have been using these for winter steelhead fishing in Michigan and they are very comfortable. I chose a size that is 1 1/2 sizes larger than my normal shoe size so I can fit two layers of wool socks inside the boots. Absolutely love these waders.

Priced cheap but made cheaper. Not worth the price.
Pretty disappointed about these waders. The fit was good, but that's where the positives stop.Overall these waders were cheaply made. They didn't breathe as advertised and at the end of a relatively short day (in 60 degree weather) I found all my clothes under the waders were damp. My socks were flat out wet from being in the boots. But day one, they held the water back.Day 2 the waders didn't work any better. The same moisture issue was annoying. Also, the boots rubbed on my shins and left me with shin blisters, even though I had my socks pulled up.Day 3 warranted this review. By day 3, the bottoms of the boots began to look ragged and worn. I stepped into the water and 20 minutes in, I could feel cold water leaking into the bottoms of my boots from the shin down. I think where the boots met the waders had a leak.Between the non-breathing, the running on my shins and the leak, I'd advise anyone to pass on these waders and save themself the time and trouble. I'm at a fishing lodge in the wilderness of Alaska and I'm so lucky they've got a pair I can borrow. My advice is don't get these unless you're ok with the above complaints and aren't hoping for a dependable pair of waders. I'm planning on leaving them here as I've been told I can no longer return them, and I'll need to work it out with Hosgeman if I want any type of return. Not worth the hassle.

Good so far
I've had the chance to use these 4 times since I bought them about 2 months ago. With neoprene long johns and a pair of sweats they kept me toasty waist deep in 40 degree water all day. Yesterday (the last time I used them) i felt like some water may have been leaking (extremely slowly) through the stitching where the boots meet the legs. I can't say for sure however. I was in them all day and it was about 70 degrees outside. If it continues to be an issue I will seek out a warranty repair/exchange. Overall I am satisfied with the product. They lose one star because of the size (don't travel well) and the possible leakage. I will update this review when I know for sure. The work table is especially nice to have. It stores flys and reduces the weight in your vest if you choose to wear one. I think next time I will go with bootless waders however.

ok for a couple hours at a time
I just got home from an 11 hour fishing day in the smoky mountains. I waded and climbed over, around, and through rocks, timber, waist high water. I read all the reviews and thought that since I'll only be using these a few times a year then they'll be ok. I will say that if you are only going to wear them for 2-3 hours at a time then yes these will be fine. 11 hours of non stop climbing, wading, and walking is another story. The good: these are incredibly light weight. The pockets and trey on the front are very nice. They did keep me dry and held up very well. I expected that I would tear them up with the abuse I put them through today, but they did great. No leaks at all.The bad: I read all the reviews that talked about how horrible the boots are.. well I sort of agree. I have a very narrow foot. So my foot slid in the boot easily. I did wear knee high wool socks and still had room in the boot to wiggle around. The bottoms of the boots have little circles that almost act like suction cups. They did not slip on hard rock or sand/mud. If the rock had slime on it then they slid right off. I found that slimy rock = me on my butt.. Also there is a review about the boot floating.. well let me tell you, there were a few times that I stepped on a slimy rock in knee high water and I went down and my feet went up. I TOTALLY agree that the floating boots makes it very difficult to regain your footing! Now to the chafing.. by the end of 11 hours my ankles and shins were hurting so bad that I could hardly walk back to the truck. Once I did finally make it back to the truck, it was very difficult to get the boots off. My the sweat from my feet must have caused some sort of bond to the inside of the boots. So I knocked 2 stars because of the boots. If you are planning on wearing these for only a couple hours at a time then you will be fine... for an all day outing, buy some without boots and buy yourself some good river boots.
