********** Review just for Tales From The Crypt (1972) *********
To say 1972's Tales From Crypt from director Freddie Francis is a masterpiece would be an understatement. I still label it the best horror film of 1972, without a doubt. Anyone who thinks today it is "cheesy" or "exploitation" really has to view it again. Sure it is on a budget, but that means nothing with its storyline. In the mid-1980s, a syndicated station known as Fox, (for over 20 years now it is similar to a network station) would show British horror films. This was the station that went beyond showing Hammer films: they also showed British movies from Amicus, the company owned by Milton Subotsky and Max Rosenberg. At 1:00, on a Sunday afternoon in spring of 1985, this film named Tales From The Crypt appeared. And no, I didn't close my eyes at all throughout the film. So why would I say it is scary?A great shocker to me is one that can make you think. And when the film was over at 3:00, I was glad to get out of the house. What do I mean about this? This film showed that people will get the double punishment for their manipulations. A famous saying is "What goes around comes around." Well, in this film, you will see it coming twice to the sinister person portrayed in each tale.It is a great film to be viewed by a gold-digging spouse, a adulterous spouse, a sociopath who likes to wreck innocent peoples lives, a greedy business person who likes to screw people over, and someone who is inhumane to people because that someone always wants it his or her way.Aren't there many people like this? You better believe it, and I promise you it is not because I believe it. There are many sociopaths around, as well as people hurting or murdering others for money. They don't believe there is a place for them after since they believe someone owes them something. I guess they better think again. This movie reinforced me that no matter how bad you are, someone, something, and/or someplace will not give you mercy. Or in a simpler way, life will catch up to you. You can run away from your sins like many people think they can. But you really can never hide.I mean just think about the guy who killed innocent people in a movie theater, the jealous person who is trying his or her best for you to lose your job, the person who slashed your tires so you can't go out for an ice cream cone (and that person will do worse things to you later). What about people who marry others just for their money and divorce them for everything. I'm sure it emotionally disturbs or drains the victim. It all seems inhumane to me. And yet, these people are not afraid. They actually think they are going to get away with it.When I ran into the backyard after seeing the film, I thought about what can happen when you are evil. Get punished on Earth for your evil acts and then suffer even more after. I always hated heat. Imagine if it was anyone of us? The thought was CREEPY TO THE BONE! Yes, it actually was. And it still is.I also give credit to writer/producer Milton Subotsky. He knows how to make comic books into something that is really real. Thanks for reading my friends, Joseph

It's all about the 'Crypt' !!!
I LOVE the original 'Tales From the Crypt' movie and have been waiting for a DVD release for years and years...and here it is, presented in a pristine and unedited transfer which exceeds all expectations, so I am one very, very happy Amicus fan!The makers of 'Tales From the Crypt' managed to fully recreate the atmosphere, irony, and elusive combination of fear and black humor which were the hallmarks of the EC comics on which the film was based. It also epitomized the oft-imitated Amicus trademark of the omnibus horror film, and is still the best one EVER. When I first saw this as a child at a Saturday matinee at my local movie theater, I thought I had died and gone to heaven, and have never forgotten it. It is still by far my favorite horror movie of all time, and I truly appreciate the fact that I can FINALLY have it in my collection, as I will watch it many, many more times in the years to come.As for 'The Vault of Horror,' the less said the better. It is presented here, as many others have noted, in an edited version--and a horrendous hack job it is. Funny how one of the key scenes which was destroyed in this edited version--the wine casket spigot which has been inserted into a man's neck and is dispensing his blood into a vampire's wine glass--can actually be (briefly) seen in the trailer for the movie (which is inexplicably presented in black and white) included on this disc! The bottom line for me, however, is the fact that 'Vault' never did impress me when compared with 'Tales,' and is really an inferior follow-up, edited or not. It just does not capture the EC magic as did the previous film, and is actually rather difficult to sit through--I found it quite boring ('Vault' director Roy Ward Baker was obviously not as inspired by the EC source material as was 'Tales' director Freddie Francis). As a side note, Amicus production's 'Asylum' , another omnibus horror film made around the same time as these two, is FAR superior to 'Vault,' and I would recommend this as an alternate companion piece to 'Tales.' Though I don't believe its segments were based on anything EC, it is lots of fun and my second-favorite Amicus film. ( 'Asylum' is available in DVD format--in a superb print--from Dark Sky films).I doubt that I will ever watch 'Vault' again, edited or unedited, as it is vastly inferior to 'Tales.' As such, I rated this package with five stars due to the fact that I finally have a clean, beautiful version of 'Tales From the Crypt' in my hands, and that makes this a great day! As for 'Vault,' I watched it again, for the last time, then tossed it.This is all about the Crypt, baby!

Un très bon service de livraison de même que l'emballage était aussi sécuritaire. Je me suis diverti en regardant le dvd .1 et dont le titre est "The Tales from the Crypt" qui excellent film exactement comme dans le bon vieux temps des années 50.

Sconsigliato
