This was close to five stars. Real close.I ordered this because my wife wanted someplace nice for her mom to sleep when she came up and visited, and she wouldn't let me stick her in the chicken coop.My first impressions were very favorable. The framework is made out of steel and hardwood, judging by the feel and smell, it looks like white oak. There is none of the prefabricated garbage so prevalent in furniture now, which gives it a very solid and enduring construction. The designers did not skimp on support slats for the mattress; they're spaces every 4" apart. This is good, because the mattress/couch cushion have enought weight to sink a small cargo ship. Add to that the mattress is very soft, but firm at the same time. It makes it very hard to stay awake if you lay down on it, so it definitely scores high marks in the comfort category. Quality control was excellent, with no damage from manufacturing or shipping, and all necessary parts were included. As far as assembly, that is a double edged sword. The actual assembly was fairly easy, one person can do it, but it will be much easier to do it with two people. The downside is the included instructions. I've seen car wrecks that made more sense then these directions. If I took a can of alphabet soup and dumped it off the roof, the random letters would spell out better instructions then these. My 7-year old could drink a pot of coffee, blindfold herself, take a bunch of crayons, and scribble something on the wall and it would be closer to the actual assembly then the instructions that were included.So yeah. If it wasn't for the instructions, I'd give this thing 5 Stars all day long, because in every other category, it's awesome.

This is a nice futon. It looks really nice; and is of good quality. I had no problem building it by myself. The platform slides easily between positions. Honestly, I don't know how good the included mattress is, because I put a regular queen mattress on it. The one that came with it is still rolled up in the plastic it was shipped in. The reason I am only giving this 3 stars is because of at the expensive price point, I would expect the storage drawers to have a track to roll on. They do not. It is just two uncovered boxes that slide underneath. For this price, I expect tracks to put them on. Otherwise, it is a very nice piece of furniture; and really looks great. The tables at each end go up and down; and are quite sturdy. Best looking futon I have ever seen.

The product came quickly and in 3 separate (large) boxes. One was the matress, the other was the individual parts for the seat portion, with all the hardware and the last had the end pieces (arm rests). It took about 2 hours to assemble. Everything could be assembled with the included allen wrenches. The only other tool we used was a rubber mallet to tap in the wood plugs on the outside of the arm rests that finish the look.This thing is well built and very sturdy! It is made from real wood. Not sticker covered particle board. The seat/bed is NOT spring loaded, so you have to be careful when converting or the back will slap down into the horizontal position. Other than that, it had the perfect look and functionality we wanted. We bought the Queen size for our loft and it fit perfectly.The product is a little pricey, but I feel like I got my money's worth and this piece will last for years. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a futon and not wanting to spend thousands at a furniture store. I would consider buying another if I needed one.

Good looking, sturdy and comfy. Only complaint: it’s a handfull to operate, especially folding it back up. Mattress is heavy and isn’t exactly complicit (which is why it’s comfy) and it takes four hands to keep it in place and fold the futon back up at the same time. If you’re planning to occasionally unfold it for guests - good choice. If you plan to use it every night and fold it back every day - get something spring-assisted.

I was so excited to buy a product with all 5 star ratings, but even though the frame came well-packaged and in perfect condition, the cushion had several black stains on it. I was able to get them out, but now the cushion has soap in it, which will attract more dirt. In addition, when you want to make it into a bed, you have to MOVE it away from the wall, or it will tear up your wall. Most futon couches glide out easily away from the wall without you having to physically pick up the whole couch and move it.Our new married kids slept on it and said the cushion was too hard to sleep well on, but I am sure it depends on whether you like firm or not. Just know it is a firm cushion.It took about 3 hours to assemble.

This arrived a few days sooner than expected which was a nice surprise. It came in three boxes, the frame, the side arms and the mattress. The mattress box was a bit tattered it was partially open but I think that was due to Fedex handling. The mattress was securely wrapped in air tight plastic and the frame and arms were also packaged really well in their respective boxes. All of the screws and tools were well organized and lined up on cardboard pieces that were also wrapped in plastic. I put this together by myself, it took me about 2.5 hrs, at least 45 min was simply for the unboxing of the materials. The instructions for the most part were clear, the pieces have colored stickers for you to follow along however I did have to consult the instructions video on the website just to make sure I was understanding the steps so I was glad a video is available. There were no damages to any of my pieces and it's really sturdy, real wood for you! The mattress is comfortable and it makes a great addition to my office/guest room, so glad I purchased this.
