An exceptional piece of kit
I bought this scanner when my car (2017 Vauxhall Astra 1400 petrol) displayed a warning light indicating a fault in the emission control system, and my local garage was unable to look at the car for a week. It is a well made instrument, with a clear display, and is powered by the car - no battery required. I am amazed by the volume of information it provides. Not only does it list the fault codes stored in the car engine control module (ECM), but also the values of several dozen parameters at the time the fault was detected (freeze frame data). Fault codes can be generic (common to all vehicles), or specific to the make and model. Generic codes can be looked up on the scanner. It can also display vehicle info, such as the VIN number, and can be used for the live streaming of many of the variables monitored by the ECM. Last but not least, it can erase fault codes and freeze frame data.I was impressed by the quality of the manual - a proper booklet, not a flimsy sheet of paper. However, quite rightly, this is a manual for the operation of the scanner, it is not a training course on the diagnosis and rectification of ECM fault codes. If you want to know what all the freeze frame abbreviations mean, if you want to diagnose the cause of the fault codes and fix them, you will need to spend a lot of time searching the web for answers.Obviously this won't do what scanners costing £100s do, but I think that it is exceptional value for money for what it does do.

Handy and easy to use
I've managed alot of years without needing this up until my latest car that seems to love the garage that much over the last 18 months I've put more mileage on hire cars than my own! I'd been away for a few days and the hire car spit out a engine management light, enough was enough. Rather than take everything out if that hire car and put it all back into another, I took a punt on this. It's a great addition that will tell you the common codes (unless they don't want you to know) but if not, at least clear them. Did the job intended. I've also now got this if my wife's car decides to start playing up (which is an older but more reliable car)

Saves you money
First of all I'm not a mechanic but I know if a censor is playing up. So after buying this and doing a search I confirmed my diagnosis and deleted the faulty message that appears on my dashboard every now and then. The overall appearance of the product is robust and easy to use, has instructions but I still checked on Google for the fault codes.

Fast, efficient, user friendly and value for money.
I am so pleased with this little piece of kit. I’d had an annoying service vehicle soon message come up on the dash for months despite the car being mechanically sound. This gets to be really irritating after a while. I plugged this into the port under the steering wheel, turned the ignition on. It took seconds to connect with my car. I selected the obd icon for checking engine faults. I then scanned for faults. It found none, I erased the fault code and there you go. No more annoying needless beeping and inaccurate fault codes every time you turn the key. I don’t know how much a garage or a mechanic would have charged or been able to make a big job out of this situation, but it was well worth the money for me and that was only for something basic. Looks like this wee box does a whole lot more. Very user friendly too. It also finds faults so if you do need work done, you know exactly what needs to be done. A bit of peace of mind when you talk to the mechanic.

Doesn't read error codes on all cars.
Built well. Easy to use. Handy tool when it works on cars it can work on. Tried on a lexus hybrid didn't pick up vin number which is essential nowadays with the amount of stolen cars up for sale. And then tried on Astra 2005 which had engine light on.. Said there are no fault codes. Checked with obd scanner app it found 25 faults! Cleared with the app instead.

Wish I'd bought one last year!
Ok... quick story. MOT due, had a hole in exhaust which caused emissions issue, which in turn caused engine light to come on. And due to car only being used for short journeys a new exhaust didnt get enough run time to clear the engine light. Sooooooo.... It's £30 for a diagnostic where I get my service done and it's £20 for this wonderful little box.... do the maths. Followed the instructions, it told me exactly what I'd already assumed (but also reassuring to know that this was the only fault) pressed a couple of buttons and the engine light was gone! MOT passed! Dont forget, ANY engine light on the dash is now an instant MOT failure.Just a quick note to anyone wanting to buy this item. My car is pretty basic. This device covers every sensor it's engine has. But I'm presuming the more complicated the car the further up the range of this item you may require. Yet for me it was absolutely perfect. Simple, effective, and incredible value for money. Would recommend 100%

Amazon says it fits my vehicle. No it does not!!!
I have a 2005 Rover Streetwise that hadthe engine light appear recently. Plugged in the scanner 10 times, only to get the same message to turn ignition on or off and wait for 10 seconds. The thing does not work for my car, obviously. It's the same message again and again and I have checked everything that could stop it reading the codes on my car.Now my time and money have been wasted and I am extremely stressed too, as I am a performer and need to get to my gigs.So this piece of crap has ended up costing me two gigs that i could not attend and stressed me out to boot, as i haven't the time or money to waste on a garage ripping me off.I want a refund, please!
