Excellent design and Craftsmanship.
The best thing I can say about my new Handcrafted Wooden Guitar String Winder by Tenor is that it ain’t cheap! And that is because “it ain’t cheap.” The craftsmanship is excellent. I have used this string winder several times since receiving it last week and it works perfectly. It is made to last unlike the “REALLY cheap” plastic winders I have purchased before. I actually had one plastic winder break the first time I used it. But my new handcrafted wooden winder is well made and I am very happy to have paid the extra cost for one that is so well designed and crafted. These are honestly a good investment for anyone who plays a stringed instrument.

"Old World" Craftsmanship on a "plain" but essential item
This is my second time ordering a handcrafted string winder from Tenor Music. This one is made with Amaranth wood (aka "Purpleheart"). Some may believe that these string winders are nothing special but the aesthetic pleasure of holding this handcrafted string winder in your hand as an essential tool to tune your guitar makes it a more satisfying experience. You probably spent a lot of money on your fine guitar so why not invest in a tool that demonstrates your sophisticated tastes to the world rather than just a plain old plastic string winder. I only wished that Tenor Music continued to make this in Cocobolo, my favorite wood.

Custom Guitars deserve a Custom Tuner
The truth is, I am a small custom guitar shop in Texas, near Austin. I ran across these guitar winders at the same time I finished a guitar for one of my best customers. I'm always looking for artistic touches and gifts to show my appreciation. These gorgeous tuners/key winders fit my guitars to a T! I have purchased 6 or 7 I think, and I plan to include them with all my Custom Shop Guitars. Example, a Fancy custom made from Cocobolo wood gets a Cocobolo Tuner. My customers really love them. Also, there's my inlays who own and play fine guitars. BINGO, Christmas - DONE! I don't have a wood lathe, or I'd be making them for myself. However, I can't make them at these prices. Thanks 5 Stars ★★★★★ for finish and quality of workmanship. 6 Stars for doing this first.★★★★★★"I WILL be ordering more."

Top shelf Craftsmanship
My daughter got an acoustic guitar for Christmas. She is 12. I’m 49 and know nothing about guitars. With YouTube I taught myself how to change the strings. I bought this product for her (me) , it makes the process so much easier. It wasn’t the cheapest, but it is top quality. It will last her a lifetime. It is beautiful and well made. It really is a beautiful tool. So much classier than the cheap plastic ones. Treat yourself you won’t be disappointed.

A worthy tool
I am very pleased with this product and this company. They shipped it very quickly and it actually got here 2 or 3 days before the date Amazon predicted. The winder I got has the Cocobolo wood and is a really beautiful tool. It is well-balanced, quiet and feels great to use. Yes, it cost a good bit more than the cheap, gaudy-looking plastic models, but I finally decided that I wanted something well made and aesthetically pleasing. I’ve had a number of the plastic ones over the years that were cheaply manufactured and easily broken. I’ve got a number of guitars and change strings with some regularity and I can tell that this tool will last a lifetime (and probably longer!). I’ll be giving these as gifts to my other string playing friends.

Nicely made and quite functional
Nicely made and quite functional. I did make one modification: the buttons and shafts on my J-45 are quite short and the winder cup threatened to bang the side of the headstock in use. Cut a small piece from a self-adhesive felt pad (like the ones sold to put on chair legs) and set it in the bottom of the button cup - perfect! A cushioning pad in the bottom of the cup, controlling the depth the button reaches. I think a small, properly shaped pad of this type should be made part of the packaging with the product; inexpensive and a nice addition to accommodate short-shaft machine heads.
