Looks great
If you want one because it looks good, this is for you. It is very light weight more so then the older plastic ones. Very cool design and because it is made out of foam it is easy to hold up long enough to get the light installed. My wife painted ours so I actually used a couple of screws to mount it, just don't use to much torque and go to deep with them so you can mud the impression and paint it. It looks like the older era plaster medallions that artisans crafted for the rich, very impressive. Very good for the price!

Beautiful and Unique
I paired this with a gold modern globe (sputnik) fixture in my modern/vintage black (and gold) office and it looks stunning. I painted it a semi-gloss white. The back is not flush, so my husband did a little sanding to even it out so it would sit on the ceiling better. Test it out on the ceiling before getting up there with your light fixture and finding out it is not flush. If you need to sand the back, place an X on the high spots so you only sand what is needed. Be careful around the edges of the piece and sand by hand with a fine sandpaper. This may scare some people off, but a little sanding is not difficult and it is well worth it. On mine, there is still a little gap all of the way around, and I had planned on caulking it. However, I love the way it looks as is, so I am leaving it. I was worried that this medallion would look too gaudy, but it finishes the room. Every time I go in the office, my eyes are drawn up to it and the gorgeous light fixture, and it makes me so happy.Update: I bought a second one for a family member. Same issue, but this one was much flatter on the back. Totally worth it though. She hasn't put it up yet and she is deciding whether she needs to paint it. I say paint it so it will match the crown molding, but it is her choice. It will look good, either way.

Fulfilled my vision!
So happy with this medallion! Our new (very old) house has original tounge and groove wood on most ceilings and walls. The previous light fixture his the big odd shaped hole that was cut for electrical. I ordered this new chandelier for a little modern glam only to find once installed that the collar was too small to hide the hole. So I did some research and a ceiling medallion seemed like it would look amazing and solve the problem of the hole! I ordered the hand painted black that was available as "used" for less than half the new cost! The painted was chipped in placed so I gave the whole thing a fresh coat of black semi gloss spray paint! It turned out so beautiful! Be warned that you will have to Uninstaller your entire light fixture to put this up. Also the nipple in your fixture might not be long enough for the medallion and the chandelier collar. The collar on this chandelier sat on the thickest ridge of the medallion so the nipple was an inch too short. Ordered a new one and problem solved! Great quality, lighter than it looks, and adds such a dramatic effect to the room!

Gorgeous addition to any chandelier!
I bought this to go with a vintage crystal chandelier. I painted it with satin Alabaster paint. It’s light enough that the chandeliers hardware holds it tightly to the ceiling. Easy diy!

Highly recommend!
This medallion delivers! My wife creates stunning looks for her clients with her hand painted medallions and this one not only fit the bill in value/price point but it is also light weight which makes it accessible for anyone who would like to install a medallion but are unable to lift and secure a heavy piece to the ceiling. It arrived well packaged, completely primed and ready for finishing. To get this look she used black satin and applied silver leaf by hand. Literally by hand. Her finger tips to be exact. The smoothness of the medallion lends itself to many different finishes. Paired with a beautiful chandelier - another excellent Amazon find. We decided to keep this in our room and make another for her client.Only issue- it is not a fast delivery. Took about ten days to arrive.

not too bad...
I haven't painted this 28.5" medallion yet but for the money, I think it looks pretty good. The room measures 17'X23' with 10' ceilings so the medallion is a bit small. The light fixture is real brass from the late 1800s and is original to the house. It is a classic design that has been copied over and over again using cheaper material but this one is the real deal and measures 18" across at the base. Expensive fixture with a cheap foam medallion but I still think it is worth it because I have worked with plaster and wood medallions and you gain little to no advantage using those materials because those have their own set of problems. For something that is purely decorative, foam will do. I bought this style because it fits the room and it was inexpensive. The next size up would have been over $200 more. This design will allow me to add a 38' to 46" round border later on. General rule of thumb, go as big as you are able to for a large room. Installation is simple with a bit a silicone and the base cover holding it in place but remember, you will need an 1.5" to 2" extension to compensate for the thickness of the medallion.
