I used this part to connect an L14-20p generator cable to a 240V, 15A window AC unit, but not before disconnecting the neutral pin wire at the L14-20p end. Only the two hots and ground are needed. This is not advice, and you should never make any modifications to your hardware or equipment unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Seems like a good plug at a good price, I do believe it was substantially less expensive than if I had purchased it at Lowe’s.

Not nearly the quality of brand names.
First off, if you don't know this is for a 220v circuit, then you probably should not be making your own cords.Now that said, this connector is mediocre quality and serves its purpose. The price is hard to beat, so I can't complain. However I wouldn't use it on something I used every day though.
