Freeze Dried Peas, 3 Lb Bag

I will be upfront, these were not for me but for my parrots. Freeze dried vegetables have helped in breaking their sunflower addiction. The crispy outer parts offer them the satisfying crunch of seeds. In the past I have been paying 8 to 12 dollars for bags or jars of FD peas that hold a couple of ounces. This price seemed too good to be true.Surprise! I got 3 pounds of bright green, crunchy and fresh FD peas and the birds love them. Some like to eat dry, some like dunk in water but either way they are a hit. Another plus was there was almost no dust or crushed peas as they very delicate.

These peas have a chemical detergent smell. I don't know why I thought tasting them was a good idea after I was overwhelmed with the "dollar-store" smell when I poured them out of the bag, but I did. Within 10 minutes I had a bad headache and my throat was achy. I'm a canary-in-a-coal-mine for nefarious chemicals and these peas are sprayed with something or exposed to something you don't want in your body (plastic perhaps?)! All 6 lbs of them are going in the trash. I'm not even going to feed them to my dogs or chickens.

over the years, i've ordered dozens of bags of freeze-dried vegetables, and peas are my favourite. my regular brands were out, so i tried these -- and ugh, these are the WORST EVER. i really don't think i've ever been so disappointed in an amazon purchase. zero flavour, just green dust in the shape of peas. so gross, will never order from this seller/brand again.tried to find a way to use these, because i hate wasting food -- but they're completely inedible. into the garbage.

All I can tell you on the upside was the peas weren't rancid or moldy tasting, there was just no taste at all. They still seem nutritious enough in a bowl of ramen but for the price I think we was robbed. I will try them as rat bait for my barn cats and get back to you with the results later...

Even freeze dried they taste fresh. Nice and crunchy as a snack or in a salad or tasty reconstituted. Powdered in a blender or processor, they work well to thicken certain broths or sauces

would have liked 3 bags instead of all in one. very good product, very little "dust" from the dry freeze. use on salads and my dog loves them.

Eat dried or cooked, delicious

It has a very unnatural taste. I didn’t want to eat more after the first bite let alone to give to my children.
