Atlona Video and S-Video + Audio to HDMI Converter Scaler up to 1080p

I tried a few of the cheap Chinese CVBS->HDMI adapters and found they don't work with the Blackmagic ATEM because they only output 1080p/720p when I need 1080i which is exactly what this box does.It has the added benefit of having an OSD which you can fine-tweak the settings like Brightness and display size which is really helpful when up/down converting 16:9 / 4:3 imagesIt is a true HD Scaler and as such can change standard def 4:3 to these sizes: Full, Overscan, Underscan, Letterbox which are 16:9 type outputs. It has a Panscan size which is 4:3They don't identify it in the product description but this is the AT-HD520 model.

This may be a great product for viewing legacy sources like S-VHS or laser discs. However, I was hoping that it would improve the image quality on the TV screen of a DirecTV SD signal. I was hoping for just evan a minor improvement. The image is not improved at all; a 480i image is still only a 480i image. I returned it because the product did not meet my needs. To Atlona's credit, the device is well made and functioned as their phone tech support representative indicated. I had the unrealistic expectation that the converter would actually convert a standard definition source to a higher definition image.

This item works well and allows most any legacy S-VHS source to be viewed over and HDMI connection. I use it for viewing legacy VHS tapes. Would recommend.
