The Nature and Properties of Soils, 14th Edition

This was much more affordable then the hard back version of the text. The pages are a bit on the thin side so go light on any highlighting. Also, the content of the textbook was the same, but the page numbering was different so make sure if this is for a class, you get the subject titles and do not just follow pages numbers.

If you want to know all about soil this is the book you need! It is well written, intelligently arranged and jam packed with all the knowledge one needs to know about ones yard. farm or neighborhood. I keep it close by for constant reference.

Terrible text. Difficult to stay engaged considering the information is a bit overwhelming and the pages have way too much info on them.

This exhaustive text on soils and their development is surprisingly readable. Maps, pictures and charts are included, and the information is organized in such a way that the non-specialist can easily understand the information presented. My only complaint: the index is incomplete, so it can be difficult to look up specific topics.

This is the international version, I did not know that but it works just fine. Its mostly in black and white with the exception of a few pages that show you the soil layers in color. It was just what I needed for class.

The information presented in the book is very good even for a beginner. The only complaint I have is that all the pictures are in black and white, and somewhat poor quality.

Some of the links do not work any more because the book is older -- but still! great stuff.

A very thourogh and great reference book about soils. Clear language with ample illustrations throughout. A staple for any burgeoning scientist or person wishing to expand their knowledge on soils.

Excellent for my studies

I needed this textbook fro a course I am taking. I purchased it and noticed that my page numbers were different from other copies of the same book, this is an slightly different version that has the chapter arranged differently in order and material in a different order. images and data were the same just a bit difficult at first, but at a nearly $200 savings from my school bookstore still worth it.

Nice book to start with basic of soils

peel off the sticker on the front and you'll see where it says "prohibited for puchase outside of India" or something like that ... whatever ... publishers charge way too much money for texts for "starving students", anyhow. Quality a little "meh" but again ... it serves the purpose.
