Fun game, endless hours of fun
We are avid board gamers, we could fill a big bookshelf with all the board games we have played to exhaustion but this one we keep coming back to.

Makes my favorite game even better
I loved the base game so much, that I could never imagine it could become better, but this expansion does that in such a way that I don't see myself playing without it anymore! I love it!

One of the greatest games ever made!!
The game is big and there is a lot to do but the turns are easy. The difficulty comes in trying to synergise and get the highest score. You can play the game in so many different ways. After 20 or so games I am still loving it. I have introduced medium level gamers (Ticket to Ride, Pandemic) and they love it.

I never play without it now
Adds more interesting avenues to give yourself some more natural focus in the beginning. An the new board is great. Makes the game less visually intimidating for new players than compared to the old board. And artisan sheds are a nice simple way to get people into the idea of buying more sheds/ islands while also making your starting turns feel unique. Everything this expansion replaced in the base game has never been used since!

Improves an already excellent game
I love the base game, but certain strategies were less viable than others. I've been able to get a few solo plays in and I believe the balance is much better, especially with the addition of new animals, customized action board based on player count, and the shapes of the new resources. I don't know that the new islands add much in terms of balance, but they're new options and fun. Can't wait to break this out in a couple days when my family visits for the holidays.

complex but fun
My daughter is 8, but she loves strategy games. We've played this three times and she's beaten me all three times. I was sure I had her on this last one, but she squeaked out a victory by only a couple of points. She's exceptionally strategic for an 8-year-old, though, so I wouldn't recommend this for most kids. If you are into strategy games, it's interesting for sure. It's similar in play-style to Caverna (which we both think is just a little bit more fun), but we like the genre of fantasy in which Caverna is set, so that plays into it. This game is still really great. The first playthrough, plan on taking several hours, including checking the rules frequently. After that first playthrough, it plays much more quickly, and my daughter and I can play through a game in less than an hour after 3 times playing. We are still exploring what the possibilities are and each time we've used a different strategy to get to our goal, and we are rarely bumping into each other's strategies or messing it up for one another because there is just so much to do, and your strategy can adapt throughout the game. It's fun, if exceedingly complex to get started. (Watch a youtube playthrough/walkthrough of the game before your first time - it helps a lot). PEACE!
