Is this compatible with Linux (Ubuntu)?

Yes, I currently have this on a desktop with Pop OS 20.04 and so far works without problem. I ran apt-get update and apt-get upgrade just to make sure any potential drivers were properly installed. You will need to download/install dvgrab (sudo apt-get install dvgrap) if you are intending to use it for video capture. The command I use is as follows. dvgrab -showstatus --timestamp --size 0 --rewind "NameingConvention-" where "NamingConvention-" is your choice of file name. it will put a video name as such: "NamingConvention-2067.02.15_22-26-25.dv" as an example. The .dv is the raw video format that it spits out. You can then import this into kdenlive or some other video editing software. Additionally if you wish to have the video broken down into sections (such as video playback of an actual DV tape you can run the following: dvgrab -showstatus --autosplit --timestamp --size 0 --rewind "NamingConvention-" in this case it will break it down into a series of smaller video files. If you wish to play the .dv file without editing it first, VLC has no problems playing it back. Hope this helps!

Hello..Yes it works perfectly with my Preston's Mixer. .I Haveven windows 7 professional and other works great. I just upgraded to Windows 10 and havemail have time to check it out but from all the reviews it they say it works..updated everything before you change your mind to upgrade to Windows 10.. .

will this card work on a mac pro

This card works out of the box on Lion 10.7 and ML 10.8 in a Hackintosh. In an actual Mac Pro, I do not know. But I think the card would be detected and the drivers installed the same way. There is no need to download any drivers or install any drivers. The support for the card is built into the Apple OS.

how do i find out if it will install in my computer, pci express slot ?? IDK!!!!

You need to remove the access panel on your computer, then check if you have a PCI-e x1 slot on your motherboard. If you enlarge the Vantec FireWire photo you will see gold pins at the bottom of the card. Your PCI-e X1 slot will be just about that size. You will need to remove an expansion slot cover to install the card. Then screw and secure the card to the top of the expansion slot.
