Great way to turn old game favorites into a learning experience!
I work with adult addicts with co-occurring challenges. I'm not a fan of giving lectures and preaching to a room full of uninterested, bored and sometimes court ordered young adults who think they know more than the rest of us. This book provides many creative ideas to the same old "coping, self esteem, anger management, communication skills" groups. Less lecture, more fun and experiential ways of learning these skills. In doing so, the dialogue is client driven after just a few of the prompts provided in the book. I would recommend this to counsellors of youth and adults.

Table of contents not helpful
I bought this for my job which is primarily working with children. I was excited that this book covers all of these topics like teamwork and anger management. Unfortunately, the games are not organized in the book this way. It is organized by game instead of the topic area you wish to address in playing the games. This makes it really difficult to sift through the games and find one that suits the group or individuals needs.

table of content not in categories.
No problem with the content. Just wish the book listed the activities by categories (self-esteem, teamwork, etc.) in the table of content instead of an index at the back of the book. But at least the index is the very last part of the book, making it easy to find.

Good Book
I have bought this book three times now because I have coworkers that continue to borrow it and not return it! I have used this book over my carrier in settings with both adults, children and teens. It was worked best with me with teens, though many of the games work with adults in residential and PHP/IOP settings as well. I love the process questions too which helps when training interns or non-therapy staff how to run psychoeducational groups. Overall great product! I highly recommend it!

Former In-Home therapist approved
As a therapist, I appreciate using games in session and how useful they can be, especially with kids as it motivates them to focus for 30 minutes then play a game. Games teach kids and families so much, and help improve that relationship. This book gave me a starting point with how to use games therapeutically for therapy and allowed me to consider how to adapt other games I have for therapy. Great book and I highly recommend if you work with kids.

This book should be in every Therapist library.
Love this book. It has saved me lots of money. Therapy games are very expensive and when your first starting out you don't have the money to purchase all the ones you want. This book Shows you how to use 1 game for multiple topics.

Glad I purchased it..
Great ideas. I had been thinking about how to use general board games in therapy as a therapy tool. This book already did the thinking for me! Thank you!

Good ideas but not UK friendly
Some great ideas to transform standard games for working 1:1 or small groups. This is however American so need to adapt to English and some of the games aren’t available in the uk.
