Magnetic Drill Press MD40

It is amazing how well this unit works. Vevor makes cheap tools, some good, some not so good. This is great. Variable speed, reversing, decent magnet strength. It is well built, and even comes with a starter pack of bits. I have a Milwaukee " made in USA" unit, which is certainly top of the line. This is not ,but does compare with Milwaukee's new made in China models. Get it while you can! BTW. The drill chuck adapter weld-on shank was oversized, so wasn't able to use it.

I bought this to do a “backyard” line bore repair on an excavator boom. I couldn’t see spending thousands on a boring bar setup nor pay a shop nearly as much. I really pushed the limits of the drill with a 38mm bit that I drilled through 8” of the boss using an extension. So, why 4 stars? A design flaw. The drill shut off half way through the job. I didn’t want to delay the job with a warranty return. So I took of the cover. They used a cheap press in splice connector for the power to the switch. I don’t know if the wire wasn’t seated properly or it just couldn’t handle the current draw causing it to melt. I replaced it with heavy duty butt connectors and finished the job. Note: the coolant feed is through the quill. There is a check valve in the quill activated by pressure from the centering pin in the cutter. Coolant will flow wit there is pressure on the pin. If you’re enlarging an existing hole you’ll have to manually apply it on the outside.

Good deal for the price and my limited use. Only issue after drilling less than a dozen holes are the internal wire splices have a poor connection and melted, so at first the mag wouldn't work, then the drill motor wouldn't start. Replaced with spade connectors, and it's fine now .

Magnet was too weak and separates as soon as the bit touches the surface making it completely unusable. If the magnet base was stronger then this would probably be a decent drill.

The best drill since they started slicing bread. It drilled 264 5/8" without any problems, straight out of the box. I bought the S&F standard annular cutter set and couldn't have been more impressed. The speed and accuracy of the hole size will blow your mind. I turned down the speed to setting number 4 on the drill and it cut without any chatter and a tip temperature of 75 to 95 degrees F. This was thru 3/4" steel and took around 20 seconds per hole. I used Winona van Norman cutting fluid cut to 15% with water.

This is a great light duty mag drill. It has a wiring flaw that stopped it from working. Thank to a previous review I found a fixed a crappy wire splicer that had melted from poor connection. I would have gave it 4 stars if not for the wire splicer issue. Hopefully it’s been upgraded.

This mag drill work’s flawlessly! About 30% cost of some other known brands and the day I got it I started drilling through 3/4”-1 1/2 plate. Very happy with it.

Price was reasonable. Used drill magnet strong variable speed is nice comes with strap, bits, chuck and oiler . Ready for use. all you do is install chuck for drill bits, oiler if you need that adjusted height so it can accommodate longer bits . Drill a dozen holes in chassis of highway truck no issue
