Product Description Brand new studio album from legendary artist Ringo Starr. Liverpool 8 features 12 new tracks written and produced by Ringo Starr and Dave Stewart. .com Who but Ringo Starr could get away with a syrupy lyric like this: "When I look back / It sure was cool / For those four boys from Liverpool?" The wrap-up line is from "Liverpool 8," the title song from the drummer’s autobiographical 14th album: of Rory Storm, of Hamburg, and of John, Paul, and George. Like most Ringo efforts, it won’t win any songwriting accolades, but it can be just plain fun. Teaming with longtime collaborator Mark Hudson and producer Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), Starr belies his 67 years with still-solid drumming and an adolescence not far removed from "Octopus’s Garden." Emphasis here should be placed on the barroom request "Harry’s Song," as well as the seductively Spanish "Pasodobles" and a campy, banjo-led "RU Ready." With its infectious chorus--"Someone’s there to catch you when you’re ready to let go"--the latter could be a holdover from the Beatles’ White Album and confirms that, be it 1968 or 2008, when you ask for Ringo, it’s Ringo you get. --Scott Holter

Disappointing CD from Ringo
Ringo Starr has produced a lot of excellent CDs in recent years - Ringo Rama (Bonus Dvd) (Dlx),Choose Love,Y Not, and, most recently, Ringo 2012 [Amazon.com Exclusive CD+DVD Version]. Unfortunately, LIVERPOOL 8, which marked Ringo's short-lived reunion with Capitol Records (ironically, now owned by Ringo's current label, Universal Music Group), released in 2008, was a big disappointment. While the wistful title track, produced and co-written by Dave Stewart, is brilliant, the CD's other selections are mediocre. Perhaps it had to do with Ringo's falling out with former producer Mark Hudson, who left Ringo not only in the middle of producing this album, but also opted out of the All-Starr tour, to host a UK-based reality talent show, which was canceled after one episode. Ringo never spoke to Hudson again, and called in Stewart to finish it. While many fans bemoaned the loss of Hudson, Ringo has apparently done just fine without him.Hard-core Ringo fans will probably like this album, but for me, it was a disappointment.

Look At the Sky & Believe
Ringo Starr's "Liverpool 8" is an addictive catchy set from the Beatles' drummer. The title track shines as a homage to the supergroup from Liverpool and borrows a bass line that will have you humming "sha la la la la la." "Think About You" has a cool bass line and is simply an amazingly good pop song co-written with Gary Burr who recently toured with Carole King, "When the world feels fast & my life feels slow, and I'm feeling way down, certainly I know what to do, I just have to think about you." "Now That She's Gone Away" pops like a diamond complete with a drum solo and Ringo's sterling journeyman vocals, "How am I going to sleep? How do I face the day? How do I carry on now that she's gone away." "Give It A Try" is a sunny pop piece that is joyful & catchy, "You've got to love every breath you breathe, look at the sky & believe." Ringo remembers pop great Nilsson in "Harry's Song" that noodles like an old-time shuffle. "If It's Love That You Want" boasts gorgeous harmony vocals with a simple pop melody that oozes good cheer. "Love Is" embraces the sweetness & shortness of life, "Time will always heal what the brokenhearted feel; The poets say it's so, but I'm not sure it's real, I only know the answer is inside me and everyone." The disc concludes with the charming old-time religious feel of "R U Ready." "Liverpool 8" is a great CD. Ringo has made an excellent disc that will put a chronic smile on your face. Bravo!

Ringo is being Ringo - full of peace and love
Whoever rates this CD and is not a fan of the Fab Four, please do us all a favor and get lost. To appreciate "Liverpool 8" and all of the Ringo CDs, you should have Beatle blood. No way can you intelligently rate this CD if you are not a fan of the greatest band that ever lived...and please stop comparing Ringo to John and Paul...that's not fair to Ringo. He may not be Keith Moon or John Bonham or Neil Pert, but Ringo can hold his own a. He may not write many songs, but he may be the most colorful performer you would ever see. Does he sing great? No....but what rocker did you ever hear having a great voice? His voice is good but he's a Beatle. You hear him sing "Liverpool 8" and you can just hear him sing "Act Naturally", "Yellow Submarine", "With A Little Help From My Friends", "Don't Pass Me By", "Goodnight" or "Octopus Garden"....it's that very cool distinctive low voice. From "It Don't Come Easy" to "Photograph", "Wrack My Brain", to 2008, Ringo is being Ringo and ya gotta love him. Besides the title track, listen to "Give It A Try" and "Love Is"....Love is Ringo

Great music, format needs work
This review covers two things. 1, the format and 2, the content (the music)1. The idea of using a reusable USB drive to sell music is a great idea, since many people like me just rip CDs to our computer anyway. The way that the mp3 files were loaded on the drive wasn't well planned. I needed to update the names of the files so they would just show the song names on my mp3 player and not have the number of the song as well.2. The music is terrific though. I was expecting maybe one or two really good songs. I was pleased to find the whole album was as good as the old Beatles music I've always enjoyed. The namesake song 'Liverpool 8' was especially touching. Anyone can relate to the sentiment of knowing that one needs to leave 'home' to achieve what one desires.

I love Liverpool too!
The title song is worth the price of the album. Being a Beatlemaniac, I found the song very sentimental because it reviews Ringo's life. I also had the extreme privilege recently of seeing Ringo perform Liverpool 8 live at his All Staar concert in Radio City. This was one of my greatest experiences besides seeing the Beatles at Shea Stadium back in the day. At least at Radio City I could hear every word (unlike Shea where all we heard were the fans screaming). Ringo puts on a very professional and entertaining show and he sure knows how to pick his All Staars. After being at his concert I certainly had the urge to buy the Liverpool 8 CD and when I went online I was stunned to see the numerous albums Ringo has made since the Beatles broke up. My Ringo has been very busy! He also has a great website. From what I saw at his concert, he still certainly appeals to young and old. Looked like some of the boomers had their grandkids there and they were all having a fab time.

Great music from liverpool
Ringo has been making some really strong albums for quite a while now that maybe get ignored by the general public but are amazingly great. Really good songwriting and arrangement on this and all his latter solo albums.. it's a shame we live in a world where only his already fans will ever hear it.... if you get a chance though buy it.
