For my son's instrument
I bought this for my son's violin because he kept complaining that he couldn't practice without it. It was cheap, so I thought, Why not, it's just rosin. It shipped and arrived really quickly and my son loves it. I don't know anything about either the violin or the rosin but he was really happy with it and said it worked really well. So there you have it- a great item for a great price. :)

Great!
The price is so little i feel that it simply can't be beat. This is my favorite rosin, i have tried the same brand but in the dark version and it just didn't feel as nice as the light. I was originally using the rosin that came with my violin (which i need to destroy) and i will never, ever do that again. This rosin is infinitely better and actually stays on the bow. The fallout is very fine and very little, i can usually just blow it off gently.

Awesome rosin
My husband just bought himself a violin, and the rosin that came with said violin was terrible. So, he decided to try this rosin based off of the reviews he read. It was a good decision. The rosin almost immediately became opaque when used on the bow and produced an excellent sound when the violin was played. Not a lot of rosin is needed. The rosin he had before, he had to manually scratch it up in order to get any rosin to stick. This stuff sticks wonderfully. We will definitely be buying this again when the time comes. I recommend this product.

A good rosni for the price.
This seems to be a good rosin. I have a very old violin and equally old bow. I took it out of the case after it sat in storage for 20+ years and the bow barely made a sound. It took me a few minutes to get through the shiny layer on top of the rosin, but once it was gone the bow took the rosin just fine. It sounded just like it did when I played as a kid.

Works very well
I am a beginner violinist and I recently bought my first violin. The rosin that was included with my violin purchase is of very poor quality. Thankfully, I had decided to order this rosin from amazon also as a precaution. It works much better than what was shipped with my violin and not much has to be applied in order for the bow to grasp the strings. It's also very inexpensive. You really can't beat the price. I'm sure it's probably worthwhile to purchase an even higher grade rosin if you're an advanced violinist, but for anyone at the beginner or intermediate stage, this will work very well.

Treadle sewing machine solution!
It's not the intended purpose of the rosin but it worked fantastically for my purposes. I sew on an old treadle machine and recently had to replace the belt. No matter how much I adjusted the new belt, it kept slipping so I no matter how fast it was being treadled, the needle movement was sluggish. I made a few passes on the belt with the rosin and it gave it just enough grip to sew with ease. I've not noticed any buildup or residue left on the machine but I also don't apply a lot of rosin, just enough to help make it stick.

It's decent, but not the best
This is a decent rosin, that's legitimately the best thing I can say about it. When I received my rosin it was hard, chipped, cracked, and broken. In the picture you can see I have used it, but I only used it for about two days until I got some SnowPine rosin in which arrived in one piece. (I bought that with my shoulder rest from a different distributer.) All in all it is a decent rosin and it is usable, but I most definitely will not be getting this brand of rosin again. Personally, I don't like the way it makes my violin sound. (I'm picky and this makes an awkward squeak which different rosins don't make.)

A slightly better grade of rosin than Cecilio
I bought a Mendini MV400 violin kit which included the Cecilio rosin in a round plastic container. This stuff was much closer to the gemstone known as amber and has similar hardness. You can also buy Cecilio and Mendini violins through Amazon. I got mine from [...] The price was cheaper than Amazon, but this all changed and now Amazon is cheaper. But this review is about the rosin. Others have pointed out that Cecilio rosin takes about 15 minutes of work to rosin a bow. Save yourself a lot of grief and get the Super-Sensitive rosin and get your bow done with about 30 strokes, about a minute. You will see the vitreous luster haze quickly, but with Cecilio rosin you have to scratch the surface with a knife to get started. I prefer the type Number 911, which is a light colored rosin. Then give your Cecilio rosin to a gemologist. If you buy a Cecilio or Mendini violin, get the Super-Sensitive rosin at the same time. The other reviewers also seem to have bought el cheapo student violins as did I.
