A big thank you to Travelrest!
In my first review dated 14 January 2016 (see below) I had not tried the pillow on a flight. I am currently in Nicaragua having spent a week in Costa Rica and have now used the pillow on several journeys. The flight from the Uk to Costa Rica involved 14 hours of flying and I was delighted with the pillow. I found the most comfortable way was strapped round my body and also I felt it was rather antisocial to strap it on the seat! I have now used it on two flights, three coach trips and in a car and would thoroughly recommend it. It prevented my head from falling forward and protected my neck. When not in use I like the fact it deflates to a small size.It is not the cheapest on the market but I think it is definitely worth the price.I am flying from the UK to Costa Rica shortly which will involve long flights followed by several bus journeys. As someone who finds sleeping on planes difficult I researched travel pillows on Amazon. Having been less than satisfied with the traditional neck support pillows in the past I decided to try the Travelrest pillow and am delighted with it. I have tried it at home in various chairs and am very impressed with how comfortable and versatile it is. It gives great support to my neck and upper body when I am in an upright position. I am therefore confident that it will work both on planes and in buses. It is quick and easy to inflate and deflate and will attach to luggage but is also small enough to fit into a handbag. As someone who travels a lot I know that the Travelrest pillow is going to help me sleep whether on a plane, in a car or on a bus journey. A great find!

Great idea. Terrible quality
Arrived promptly. Nice red colour with soft coating. Directions take a few minutes to understand, but easy enough and I was up and running in very little time.Comfortable to use and YES it works. Probably, of all the neck pillows for travel that I have used, this one was the second most comfortable. The very absolute best, was a specially contoured memory foam pillow - but that does take up more space. However - and it is a BIG HOWEVER. About 2 hours into a 7 hour flight from St Lucia to London, it developed a leak. I had definitely not mis-treated it in any way and can only assume it was a quality issue. The seams are re heat glued - no more - and with minimal input, it would seem. But those 2 hours gave me some idea that if this was just bad luck, it would be worth trying again. So, undeterred, I purchased a replacement for my next transatlantic flight - an 11 hour night flight from LA to London. This time, things even worse. Removed the little thing from its packaging and the moment I blew in to the valve, the valve flew off. Just a great gaping hole now. Without the valve, of course, not one iota of air can remain.I regret, these incidences were too much for me. Yes, I could have been *really* unlucky twice over - or it could be that these things are great but only for a very short time. Quality on both mine just really poor.My solution: take a little less luggage and make room for my memory foam neck pillow, which is reliable as an old pair of comfy flannel pyjamas. Sleep tight.

Best travel pillow I've come across yet
Recently I purchased four highly rated travel pillows, in the hopes of coming up with a decent travel pillow. For 12-hour long-haul flights in the past, I have relied mainly on rolling up the blankets they give you on airplanes, as this was better than the numerous U-shaped inflatables I had used in the past. And free. However, times have changed and I have noticed numerous new travel pillows in various designs, all promising the ultimate in comfort. I was curious if they worked.I decided to try these: (1) Travelrest; (2) Cabeau Evolution pillow; (3) J pillow; and (4) the Snugbe Luxury Travel pillow.Of the four, I would rate Travelrest as the best option to take on a plane, and definitely the one to buy if you want to buy someone a gift and do not know their neck measurements, etc.I must note that I only tried using the Travelrest by strapping it around ME, and not a seat. This works great, because you can easily change the pillow to sit on either side of you. I had good support for my head regardless of the shape or position of the seat. In fact, I tried it sitting up in bed (with no back support whatsoever) and it enabled me to rest my head comfortably to either side of me.While the J pillow and the Snugbe are comfortable in certain situations (Snugbe was good for me on the coach, and the J pillow was better on the train, because of the differences in seat height, position, angle), they didn't provide the overall support I wanted and would slip down on occasion. You need the weight of your body on them at all times to keep them up.The Cabeau Evolution was comfortable for me, but whether or not it is comfortable for you might depend on the length of your neck. I have a very long neck. Also, it would add more weight and bulk to your luggage, unless you are prepared to wear it all the time.So the winner for me for plane travel is Travelrest because:*It offers a comfortable place to rest my head regardless of the seat type or seat position*It works regardless of your head size or neck size*It stays in place*It is lightweight*Inflates quickly*Deflates quickly*Rolls up easily, and takes up little spaceIn short, the Travelrest wins on all counts. This is the one I would buy for family and for gifts.I noticed there is now also an optional (sold separately) velour cover with memory foam inserts. This may be the next gift to myself!
