This book is a great companion for "Lugged Bicycle Frame Construction, A Manual for the First Time Builder". Both these books come somewhat close to the famed "Paterek Manual" by Tim Paterek, but much cheaper and more available. Marc-Andre Chimonas takes you step by step through the process with photos and discussion of geometries to allow the first time builder to create a reasonable fork. The book and it's companion frame book by the author are easy to read, enjoyably written and clear in instruction.The books both discuss safety but the buyer will need a basic understanding of hot work and be willing to apply safety measures to avoid injury!The book also allows the enthusiast to understand the steps taken by the seasoned builder. Even if you just want to understand fork geometries and how it affects bike handling, this book will find a place on your shelf.

I wanted to know how to put brakes on a bicycle frame. There was also a list of suppliers.

A complimentary book to the author's book on frame construction, this will complete a desire to design and fabricate a complete bicycle. Expectations are high and this volume should help meet those expectations with knowledgeable information and references.

The author does a great job of laying out the material and reviewing what 'you' are going to do. The book is written and edited very professionally and the information is presented in such a way that it's easy to understand. His review of soldering material and torches is extremely helpful. I think the other big asset of the book is that the author makes the project so very attainable and real. Sometimes you need that kind of encouragement when starting a project of this nature.

Construction of lugged bicycle forks is all you need if you are ready to equip yourself with the tools. Spot on

I've ordered "Lugged Bicycle Frame Construction" first and this book is more essential than "Construction of Lugged Bicycle Forks". Sorry to say that but for me it's just a waste of money...

Das Buch ist eine gute Ergänzung zum Rahmenbaubuch desselben Autors. Zum Teil (wenn es um Grundlegendes geht) enthalten die beiden Bücher identische Textpassagen, dennoch kommt man um dieses Buch nicht umhin, wenn man zu seinem selbst gelöteten Rahmen auch noch eine selbst gebaute Gabel bauen möchte.

主に米国の専門店で売ってるフロントフォーク自作用部品を買って、自分でロウ付けして完成させるためのノウハウが詰まった入門書。フロントフォークの自作だけで一冊の本があって、それを日本のAmazonでフツーに買えるなんてほんとにありがたいです。もっともこの本を欲しがる人が日本に何人いるか分からんですけど…内容はTrailやRakeなどの用語の詳細な解説から始まり、フォークの設計、工具や治具、ロウ付け・塗装など一通り網羅されています。もちろん洋書なので全部英語、しかも洋書にありがちな写真・図は少なめの構成です。私はTOEIC800点ちょっとの英語力ですが、専門用語も多いのでなかなか読むのに時間がかかりました。しかしそれを乗り越えても読むべき価値がありました。NOVA CYCLESで売ってるような自作パーツを買って、素人がどんなフォークが作れるか?そういう情報を渇望している方にはおすすめの一冊です。
