Perfect for my dim garage!
Item works as advertised. I used this in my garage and it really really helped! I had one bulb in there before and that just was not even close to enough light to do my activities. This helped a ton and the price was right. I had some concerns about the heat generated at the base. Never got hotter than 96f, I find that more than adequate.

It feels sturdy and works great after you get the bulbs mounted
This device is the only way I could get the family room torchiere lamps bright enough using LED or CFL bulbs. I have ordered different bulbs for 2 or 3 years trying to gain lumens with higher than 60W equivalent bulbs. But they're just not bright enough. This solution is to use 4 plain 60W CFL or LED equivalent bulbs, so my lamp is putting out 240W equivalence and I am spending under $30 per lamp for 20 year LED bulbs with this adapter. My total wattage is only 40 with LED (reviewed separately) of 60W daylight equivalent. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that the threads of the adapter are not well designed and you must look at the bulbs carefully to start them into the sockets. It feels sturdy and works great after you get the bulbs mounted.

Great way to replace high wattage incandescent bulbs with available LEDs
LED light bulbs are great, but the price break is at 60 watts, and all my 3 way table lights take 50-200-250 bulbs. I tried buying a 250 watt LED bulb, but it is very expensive and uses a fan to cool the electronics, so it is noisy. My solution is to install one of these 4-way splitters in the table lamp, and then use 4 60 watt LED bulbs. I lose the 3-way functionality, but since I don't tend to use the 50 watt setting anyway, it is not a big loss. The good news is that I get something close to the light output of the 50-200-250 incandescent bulb.HINT: To install this splitter in a table lamp, unplug it, remove the shade and harp, and then screw in the splitter so it is oriented to allow the harp to be reinstalled. You may need to go down to your local hardware store and purchase a slightly longer harp.If you have a 50-100-150 watt bulb and want slightly less light, get the 3-way splitter and put in 3 60-watt LED bulbs.A truly ideal solution would be a slight modification of this splitter that had a 3-way socket on the bottom, so that when placed in a 3-way lamp, it would light one bulb on the first click, 3 bulbs on the second click, and all 4 bulbs on the 3rd click. Then you could make, e.g., a 60-180-240 3 way lamp using 4 60-watt equivalent LEDs.

Still I am satisfied enough. I wouldn't mount this sideways though - ...
Works OK for low weight bulbs. I put some heavy ones in there and I worry about the metal socket detaching from the plastic as it did when it was shipped. Still I am satisfied enough. I wouldn't mount this sideways though - only straight up toward the ceiling.

There are better alternatives available
Don't buy this product... This adapter only worked for 1 month.. We installed LED bulbs in this and it was only using 60 watts total... They only have one wire running to the socket. The neutral is a small piece of metal. Well, the metal broke... Don't know how... Installed it. Walked away. Go back a month later and it's not working.. There are better alternatives available!

It worked pretty well for a year
It worked pretty well for a year. Then the centre contact burned out. I used 2 -23W CFL and 2-9W LED lamps for total of 64 watts. It could not take the heat and it wasn't that much wattage, would think.

This thing kills so hard with LED bulbs
My living room looks like the surface of the sun now. You can safely cram 60- or 100-watt equivalent LED bulbs in every socket on this unit (such LED bulbs are actually only 10 to 20 watts). I can finally read the dang fine print on my remotes.Be careful, though. The metal parts are barely stronger than aluminum foil. Handle it gently. Pretend you're screwing light bulbs into an egg.

Great for dark locations
I needed a lot of light in the garage and high lumen bulbs are very expensive. After doing some amazon research I came across this and figured it would be a interesting solution to my problem. The product does exactly what it says; all four bulbs are working perfectly and no problems with fit or construction. I recommend this for use with high ceilings because the bulbs stick out a little further than they normally would.
