My grand daughter Flora, loves the book. She's 6.

This is a beautifully crafted book that inspires a child's imagination. Almost every child likes to dance, to move through the air with feet flowing and hands waving with a big smile on their faces. What fun to be free to move.The author, Molly Idle, has provided a book full of images in pinks and yellows and some black and grey. This is a book without words, that allows the child's imagination to run free. Flora, a little girl and a Flamingo meet in dance. The Flamingo strikes poses and so does Flora. As you turn the page, there is a drop down strip that shows the poses the Flamingo and Flora are making. The illustrations are alive, colorful and vivid depicting each pose, each expression as it takes place. Once your children understand the purpose of the book, they will want to try and strike the same pose. This is a great deal of fun watching children make their own interpretation. This book is not just for girls who like ballet, but every child who uses their imagination. And, the parents will have fun joining in. Imagine the big strapping father striking the poses that Flora and the Flamingo make. What a guy! What great fun!I gave this book to my four year old granddaughter after her first ballet recital. She was so excited to strike the Pisces she remembered and the new poses she found in the book. I have a feeling the entire family will soon be striking poses throughout the house!Highly Recommended. prisrob 05-10-14

My expectations were too high but it truly is a beautifully illustrated book. I wish I would have payed more attention- as I did not realize this was Lift-The-Flap, paper flaps tear too easily IMO and I usually avoid. I will not be purchasing the other Flora books until my daughter is much older but we will keep this one. It is a very beautiful book.

I adore this book! Great Picture/flap book, no words. Sweet book for a 3 year old.My one complaint is that when it shipped it was in a large box and the dust jacket ripped. Luckily, it is just a book jacket, but I wish it wasn't ripped as it looks used now.

When I was a little girl I took ballet. I loved the grace, the extensions, the leaps. I looked in the mirror and saw long limbs, arches where they should be, strength and grace. It was a wonderful time of my life and I wanted so badly to be a dancer. The mirror reflect a pudgy, dimpled little girl. Short arms and legs, clumsy and awkward. But that didn't matter, I formed a life long love of the art that I shared with both my Mother and sons. I think I looked a bit like Flora. Flora and Flamingo unfold like a silent movie, deep and beautiful. The two unlike dancers mirror each other in a synchronized partnership from the graceful to the absurd. Handy pull out flaps tell a story of companionship, friendship and a bit of healthy competition. A lovely book, it is a welcome addition to my own library. Flora and the Flamingo tell the story that anyone can be a dancer- grace like beauty comes from within. As my granddaughters take their own first ballet lesson, they will each get their own!!

This is a cute book. My pre-schooler loves to act it out! There are not words but it doesn't need words!

The media could not be loaded.  I like all illustrations and colors of this book but it’s dosen’t have any words ,not sure if I like it. But my 6 year old like it and write her own story inside this book, so maybe it’s good for imagination of your kids.

Libro molto bello, fine ed elegante Lo consiglierei come regalo per una ballerina o amante della danza ( adulta o meno) . O da utilizzare per qualche laboratorio teatrale . Silent book Molto dolce

Lovely book, bigger than I expected, but really lovely

Adorable book for your shelf with beautiful illustrations. Just know that this book is purely beautiful illustrations, there are no words so you must use your imagination and come up with your own sweet story. Cute and cheeky!

Flora and the Flamingo by Molly Idle is, for good reason, one of the most talked about wordless picture books of the last few years. Beautiful, but simple, illustrations tell the story of a determined little girl, Flora, and her encounter with a rather serious flamingo. The two titular characters form a friendship as they spin, twirl, dance (and swim) across the pages. Flora and the Flamingo is set apart from many wordless picture books with its clever use of lift-the-flaps. One of my favorite elements of the Flora books is the way in which Molly Idle conveys meaning and emotion through body language and facial expressions. If you are new to wordless picture books, this is a fantastic place to start!
