Good tuners.
These tuners are definitely a upgrade to the golden gate tuners I had on my home made banjo. Work smoothly and stay in tune(well, for a banjo). I did have to drill the shafts to use them on the slot head, but that was my fault. The pictures and description was accurate.

Amazing Open-Back Tuners
I bought these to replace the sub-par tuners on my Danelectro DC 59. They fit in the original peg holes which was a relief. These are probably the most rock solid tuners I've ever used. The gears mesh perfectly so there are no dead spots where turning the key doesn't change the pitch until the gears mesh again. The 18-1 gear ratio makes precise tuning adjustments very easy. These open-back tuners perform better than the sealed tuners on all my other guitars.

Good product
Have used these before both in nickel and gold finishes. Good product. The 18:1 gear ratio is also a plus over the old 14:1 type. And the open back design reduces the weight of the peghead and helps avoid the dreaded “neck dive.”Only negative I’ve noticed is that the gold finish tuners are starting to get more expensive than logic would seem to warrant —in some cases nearly double the cost of the same product in nickel. .

Very solid tuners
These were a big improvement to the beat-up tuners on my old Epiphone. I finally got around to replacing the old ones and these were at the top of my list as they were recommended by a friend who used them on his custom build. They were a bit stiff at first, but after you work them a few times, they get much smoother (a little 3-in-1 oil probably wouldn't hurt). When it comes to looks, I actually prefer them to the standard Grover Rotomatics. They have a much more interesting look, and the open gears are a perfect fit for an old acoustic that needs an upgrade.Overall... I've no problems with them after a few weeks, and both myself and my other guitarist friends have been impressed with the simple, but good-looking design, and the tuning stability they provided for my beat-up little Epiphone. If I'm in the market for tuners soon, I'll be looking at these again.

Zinc housing wears out fast
I've owned a set for these for about 3 years. The housing is zinc and wears out pretty quick and I'm using Ernie Ball Slinkys on a short scale neck so there is very little stress. What caught my attention was the tuners started feeling like they were grinding and not smooth. I've only owned these about 3 years.I pulled the low-E tuner and the gear is sloppy loose because the zinc housing is worn out where the worm gear rides. The thrust washer failed. The teeth are worn abnormally.Grover has a life time guarantee but the guarantee is for "failure" and you have to pay to mail the failed tuners to them plus include a $7.50 check so they can "repair or replace" as needed. These are junk

Tuners stick. They jump. They creak.
Not sure why these particular tuners are so jumpy, stick, no fluidity with just trying to tune the guitars I replace OLD ones of these on. Why do they stick? I get it they're not Taylor tuners or top end, but one would think the Grover name would be better than what these turned out to be. I tried oil, as recommended by a guitar tech, no help. To be honest, these tuners suck. If I don't pick up the guitar for two weeks, they're REALLY stuck. Weird. Why?

Just what I needed!
These tuning machines are fine replacements for the original tuning pegs that were installed on my 1953 model Martin 00-18 guitar. Installation didn't require more than reaming out the holes in the Martin's head piece so that the bushings that came with the Grover tuners would fit properly to support the Grover's spindles. The screw holes on the back flanges were pretty close to the originals but I still chose to fill the old screw holes and drill pilot holes for the Grover's mounting screws. In retrospect I really didn't have to do that but I did anyway. Re-strung the guitar and for the first few days a little re-tuning was needed due to the new strings stretching a bit but in the last couple of weeks very little re-tuning has been required. Sta-Tite means what it says and the 18:1 gear ratio has meant much more accurate pitch adjustment. I'm very impressed and satisfied with the product.
