Enjoying the build.
If you follow the directions exactly you will have no problems building this model. The parts are not easy to remove from the sheets but take your time. Wiggle them out and they will come out perfectly.Do not be afraid to use the wax. The more you use it the easier the build and it will work as described.Do not use the tooth picks supplied, use quality round ones that you can get from the store. This is a model for those who have been doing them for some time and know what is required.Once complete it is worth the money because it looks great and again works as described.Oh I forgot to mention that there are little to no burrs to contend with.Have fun with it as I did.

Amazing!
A very large model car made completely out of wood with no glue. It looks fabulous!! Wow! Didn't like the rubber bands. But you can build it without the gears as a car model. You should have some model building experience, but I think even a beginner could do it if they took their time.

Not my first Ugears model, but...
I've assembled a number of Ugears models, including three vehicles, 3 marble runs, a Hexapod, the Cycle Automaton, and the Carousel. This Roadster model was the most challenging. A number of rubber band need to be tied into smaller loops, numerous toothpicks cut to various lengths to connect parts but the most challenging was the overly complicated mechanism that powers the car. I'm very detail oriented and know with these Ugears models to carefully study and follow each assembly step which I did. Overall despite some of the more difficult assembly steps I enjoyed building this model, however if this were the first one I chose I probably wouldn't have bought any more Ugears models. So my suggestion is for beginners, select a different model to start with.

Fun project
This was my 3rd Ugears model. I am an experienced woodworker, furniture maker, and model train guy, but I learned from the first 2 models that it is important to take your time and enjoy the process if you want the model to perform as designed. Sanding and waxing are critical if you want the roadster to run, so take your time and lubricate everything (yes everything) and test along the way to be sure there is no jamming of gears or too much friction. Don’t hesitate to reverse course and take something apart and redo the assembly if there is binding. Go slow and enjoy. I have ordered 2 more kits, so I am hooked.

Great for experienced modelers
While some reviewers found the tying of rubber bands and use of tooth picks a bit finicky, I found it a challenge. This model takes patience, persistence and some level of skill. I found the use of Vaseline as a lubricant rather than the candle wax to be better. There may be reasons such as the wood absorbing moisture that some might not want to use Vaseline, but there is enough lash in the gears that it shouldn't be a problem.

Something to do during this pandemic.
Hard to put the engine together. Easy to paint. Purchased 2, neither one of them would run. Couldn't figure out what went wrong.

Great fun toss the toothpicks
I've put together several of these models so far and have enjoyed them all. This had the most pieces of any of the ones I've done so it was challenging but the finished model works well and gets lots of compliments. Here's a couple pieces of advice. Don't skimp on the sanding, if it says to sand make sure its smooth. Same thing with waxing, more is better then less. Lastly toss out the toothpicks that come with the model. They are very poor quality, not round or even the right size. I had them falling through holes they were supposed to stink in. I went out and bought a $3 box of round toothpicks at the grocery store and they work so much better.

Disappointment
Most of the parts came apart during assembly. Installation of the spring very difficult. When the spring is eventually installed it gets in the way of an installed gear.
