Tube Amp Talk for the Guitarist and Tech

Another Informational Gem From Gerald Weber
I have previously reviewed a number of Gerald Weber's other books here on Amazon, so I won't go into too much detail on this one.Suffice it to say that this is another book loaded with good information, spelled out in clear and concise language that the average "person on the street" can understand. I have all 5 of Gerald's books; I believe this one may be his second in the series. I have seen some folks complain of some repetitions in his books, but this is to be expected with books compiled from articles written for magazines, and not edited for book use. No biggie. If you need good books written for people who know nothing about tube guitar amplifiers, or just really good reference books for your own projects, I couldn't recommend any better ones. There are a number of good electronics and tube tech books out there, but many are written for designers and the electronics "whiz" who understand all the complicated math involved. These books only cover the simplest of math formulas that a third grader can understand. Good book. Buy it if you need this sort of thing; you won't be disappointed.

Gerald Weber is a tube amp guru! Buy it!
While his books do have some repetition across the series, that is a good thing! I have all of his books and do not feel that I have wasted my money at all! Repeated reading of certain phrases and bits of knowledge will help you to remember them and learn better. It also gives you insight on the way tube amps work. You see how one solution for one amp relates to another solution for another amp and how they are similar. Good reading. Easy reading. Good sense of humor and a no bull attitude make Gerald a good writer. There is a ton of knowledge here. Definitely a must buy if you want to work on your amp yourself.

Another great amp book by Mr. Weber
I have two other books by him and they are all good. The information is scattered but this guy knows his stuff about guitar amps.

Saw this while helping a friend fix their amp.
Having studied vacuum tubes in a formal setting once, I can understand and respect this writing. I quickly acquired my own copy to help "re-fire" my own knowledge in tube theory and expand into guitar amplifiers for fun. Book arrived in GREAT shape also, Thank you.

Tube Talk Review
This writing by amp tech Gerald Weber, touches upon most of the favoriteguitar tube amps in use by musicians. There are many procedures mentionedfor amp modifications and tips on fine tuning various circuits. In manycases, schematics illustrate the changes in circuits, for easy reference. The Desk Top Reference of Hip Vintage Guitar Amps offers much more usable material. This book does offer ideas for player and tech, but does not gointo the detail, nor cover the ground of the first book. It's nice to have for ideas, but not my "go to" reference.

Great addition to first book
Things here you can't find many other places. Sure, Gerald has an attitude - but with his experience, he's earned it. Love the Trainwreck pages too. Very good addition to his first book. Buy these along with "How to Hot Rod Your Fender Amp" by another author & you've got all you need to know about Fenders and basic amp repair in general.

Good reading for folks who want to know more about tube amps
Gerald's book is actually a compilation of many articles he's written over time. Don't expect long chapters, this is an easy book to pick and read an article when you've got little time on your hands. There's alot of info. on Ampeg, Fender, Marshall, and (of course) Kendricks amplifiers. If you own one of these amps you won't be sorry you bought this book.

Tube AMP Talk for Guitarists and Techs
Really interesting book on Valve (Tube) amps, mods, repairs, opinions etc, loads of info. We'll worth the price, disappointing that Amazon delivery damaged the book, top corner crushed with dirty marks, affecting every page, I have squeezed the book together in a vise that has helped, but still annoying that has happened. A good read if you are interested in this subject, the Author has strong opinions that perhaps not all will agree with, but not intrusive. Four stars only because of the damage.
