My puppers was scheduled to be neutered and figured I'd save some money by buying the cone versus getting the up charge from the vet. Upon receiving this, I realized more than likely it would not be sufficient.First of all, it comes in a tightly packed cone shape. This more or less means, that the cone doesn't want to expand very much. Which leads to the second problem, how flimsy it is. Because the material is flimsy and the way it's been packed, it ends up being lopsided since the flimsiness allows some portions to "unroll" while other portions remain stubborn and don't want to unroll. The cone will also pretty much collapse on any contact with objects, which means a dog can work around this.The last bit is sizing. If you have a dog with a longer muzzle, this will be too short. As it was, the neck size was too large.If you have a small dog that isn't very strong, then this perhaps would work.I brought this in to the vet the day of the procedure and they pretty much confirmed what I had expected. The upside of this all was they didn't charge me for their cone.

I purchased the soft clear recovery e collar on November 4, 2019 for my Boston Terrier who just had eye surgery. I was very excited to receive the collar because I had taken careful measurements of my dog and my vet sold me a generic e collar that had the exact measurements as this one, but did not feature the softened edges that this one has. Unfortunately, when I received this collar, it had been folded in half and then rolled up very tightly and wrapped in an ice cream cone shape. After struggling with the packaging for 15 minutes to unwrap it, I unrolled the color to find that it was permanently creased in a few different locations, rendering the collar unusable. I am unsure if this product was packaged damaged, or if the damage was a direct result of the packaging process, but unfortunately, I could not use it for my dog. Lesson learned! You may pay more for it at your vet or pet store, but at least you will get one that has no damage that you can use!

A VERY active puppy is going into his 2nd week of surgery healing and this e-collar is holding up beautifully.The vet was totally surprised when I told her I didn’t need the (expensive but cheaply made) e-collar she was going to send us home with, I’d done that with my lab earlier (for chewing on a sever skin rash) and her vet collar didn’t even make it through the first 24 hours before breaking) I got this a version few weeks before pup was scheduled to be neutered and unrolled it, laid a couple books on it to flatten it (it comes tightly rolled and hard to put on pup without doing this step for a few days first) when we came back from the vet, I put it on, the AWESOME top-to-bottom Velcro closure allows for a real ‘custom’ fit and he’s been wearing it ever since...No amount of clawing, scratching, bashing, scraping or slamming it into things has changed the fit (unlike the earlier versions my lab figured out almost instantly, how to break the clips with a good bash against a wall or by simply pressing it hard on the floor/grass/dirt and jerking his head up while pushing forward... it breaks the clips and/or breaks the plastic where the clips fit in).He can’t do that now (the Velcro doesn’t ‘give’ tear, snap or break off at the plastic) with this little beauty!!This sturdy cone is worth every penny! I love the little dog bone shaped cut-outs in it too, it helps them hear what’s going on better than a solid, unvented version. This e-collar will be the only version I ever buy from now on!

Save your money and time. My dog's neck measures 12" and I ordered the right size, but it was way too big around the neck and too short to prevent my dog from licking her wound. I'm returning it.

I wanted to like this, but it has some issues.The huge obnoxious stickers they use to cover the Velcro sections are just awful...The Velcro itself is so heavy on one side that not only does that side rotate downward and always under the dogs chin... it is so heavy it drags on the ground and is not at all centered on the dogs head, it has the ears bent over and the top rubs the head sometimes. If you rotate the Velcro above head it is so heavy it flops down, and then eventually rotates around. This may make it a week before I replace with something else.

It is nicely made, easy to put on and take off. Very good protection. Careful when you do take it off. It takes but a second for your dog to get to the spot you are protecting - they are fast. You should wipe it down inside after each walk. They get dirty inside and you don't want your pet breathing allergens or dust and dirt in the eye.

I ordered the size medium. I bought this for a cat knowing that I would need to make more holes to adjust the circumference, but I needed the deeper cone for my talented kitty. Upon opening the box, I found a tightly wrapped "ice cream" cone ;) After some work I unrolled it only to be disappointed; the cone had been folded in half and then rolled prior to it's shrink wrapping. It was rendered unusable due to the fold in the plastic (really, I tried to make it work). It was lightweight and appeared durable. It could've been the best cone for our use if it had been packaged differently. Maybe they aren't all rolled that way, but I didn't see the point in trying another one.

I bought this size for my 12lb cat because he finds a way to bend and chew on his hind leg with all other cones that I’ve tried. He has hot spots do to stress. This cone will be a little big, but the depth is exactly what I needed to keep him from chewing and licking his leg. Half of the Velcro on this cone will not overlap-too big for him, but he is still unable to get it off or bend. He can not eat in it, so I keep this one for when I leave the house. I can come back home and no damage to his leg!

Worked well and outlasted my rottweiler chewing, pulling and trying to crash it off her neck

Would have given zero stars if an option. So bent up on receipt didn't form a cone shape on dog, he immediately managed to get it off, can't say I blame him, totally useless don't waste your money, get an inflatable one instead.
