Southeast Asia - Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam: The Solo Girl's Travel Guide

Was the most important thing packed for my 6 week trip to SE Asia!
I have spent four summers in Asia, and I am so upset I just discovered this book in 2019! Alexa is wonderful and knows the area so well. She helped me pick the important spots/ destinations in each country, and then plan a rough draft of the day by day. We went to really great restaurants, hotels, attractions, night markets, and also knew what to skip. I didn't know Grab Taxis had started over there until her guide- so easy and convenient to call a Grab! I also benefited from the packing tips! For the first time, I bought an Osprey book bag for the whole summer- thanks for the rec!Read the guide, plan the best trip, and follow Alexa on Instagram! Also join the Facebook group. I thought my Verizon phone was locked, but because of the group, I found out Verizon phones have the feature of being "unlocked" and can accept an international SIM card.

Buy this guide.
Read it.Then write Alexa and ask any extra questions that you might have. This girl even helped me buy my plane tickets. She actually got online and searched for the best route for me to take. Are you serious?! I love her.I love this guide.

Not what you may expect
This is not a guide focused on the concerns or challenges of women traveling solo in Southeast Asia. It is, instead, a useful guide to the traveler with no defined itinerary or pressing time constraints. Good for the backpacker, hosteler, or student on an extended exploratory vacation. I was looking for insight on social sensitivities and female gender expectations, minimizing vulnerabilities to exploitation and the like as a supplement to other useful guides I already have on "the sights". I am returning my purchase.

Easy to read, but no editor? Lacks professionalism.
I like the tone, very easy to read. But a ton of typos. Is ANYONE reading this before it’s published? Has made me have second thoughts about its accuracy and helpfulness. Headed to Vietnam and Cambodia in a few weeks with both Lonely Planet and this book in tow. Will update then.

An awesome book for any backpacker with a touch of glam
This book is awesome for anyone who just loves to grab a backpack and go. With loads of insights that you wouldn’t find on a normal travel book, Alexa’s writing is easy to read and very entertaining. I literally finished the book in a day.Plus the pages are not crammed with info so you have space to write some notes of other places you want to go or direction notes. Oh, and did I mention this fits in your bag? Yep no need for a thousand books weighing you down.
