Excellent value for the money
I needed a dog lift ASAP due to my elderly Aussie suddenly coming down with Vestibular disease aka Old Dog Disease. My dog was suddenly paralyzed from the waist down so I needed a rear lift. I was immediately grateful to not only find one that was affordable but one that was on prime as well. I followed the measurement instructions and ordered. I ordered size Large for my "Medium" breed dog because he is 1 very fluffy and 2 a little overweight. The measurement instructions said this should be the size I buy. It wasn't. The lift came the next day and I was able to loop it on his legs but not up past his thighs (where the instructions stated to measure). I could hoist him up but the lift was pulling his legs outward from his body like a frog so he could not even try to stand. I ended up carrying him. I reordered this same lift in XL and it came the very next day. The xl lift while slightly too large works perfectly. Now that I know what I'm doing let me help you because it was a bit of a learning experience. The lift is very very good quality. There is a nylon harness with padded spongey netting on the part that goes around the legs. The lift has a buckle to help snap it together once on and 2 handles, one is a short handle with a velcro handle and the other is an adjustable strap. I was hoping I could wear the strap on my shoulder like a manbag and walk with my dog but that is just not doable for me I am tall, you will see when you buy it. The harness if laid flat is shaped like aviator sunglasses. One side of the loop is straighter and the other is rounder, these connect with one plastic buckle. You need to put the harness on the dog so the rounded loop goes around the dog's butt and the straight end is towards the head or the harness will not snap. Just a quick once over will show you how to orient the harness. Since I bought a slightly larger harness (which I recommend doing) I put it on like so, when my dog is laying on his side I put the loops over his feet, slide up n snap together, then I take the back ends of the loops and kind of pull them around his butt oriented on either side of the tail, If you are standing behind your dog looking at the tail end, the harness should show 2 parallel vertical lines, one on each side of the tail, or the lift will not lift up, but pull the legs out. Think |*| just like that. When my dog is standing if I need to put it on I just plop it on the floor, have him step into place and lift up his body and snap. Once you get the hang of it is is very simple. I left the harness on my dog as he was immobile and this style allows for full exposure for bathroom breaks. Actually lifting was awkward but what worked for me was to hold the straps in one hand, you can put them in the same handle, and I grabbed the 2 loops in the other hand right above the tail to hold them in position. I wish there was a bracket here or elastic to allow them to stay oriented straight, otherwise they slip down a little and end up pulling the legs outward instead of lifting up. A small inconvenience for a much needed device. All in all this lift harness was a godsend and got me through a very hard time for my dog. My dog is about 95% better and I keep the harness handy since he is a little wobbly. This was the best purchase I could've made given the need, the time frame, and the price. I am very very grateful. Long story short: Buy this harness, but you might want to buy the next size up.

Not for small dogs
So, I purchased this for my dachshund. He is 9 years old and is thin at 16lbs. He has disc disease and thought this might be easier than the sling for outside potty trips. His back legs went out on him a couple weeks ago and potty trips with the sling are ok, but the sling gets peed on, so thought a harness would be better. This rear harness looks comfortable, doesnt look like it would rub on the hips. However, even the small is just much too large for his back legs, the straps are too wide for his legs, almost makes them flare out. A larger legged dog might work better. Quality seams and such. Just not for a small dog. No under support, just hips.

Sizing is Terrible
The sizing is off! I ordered a small for my dog and it’s HUGE! more like a large.

Works once on
I like how the elderly dog (male) can still pee with this on. Can be a bit of a challenge to get on which is why 4 stars only. I get 1 leg in and he thinks he can start running to the door. Cannot get on both legs while he is laying down, the side he is laying on will not go all the way up into the proper position and ends up on his ankle or knee. Once on, it is so much easier to support the backend of 100+ lb dog down the stairs!

Helps a lot with coping after veterinarian caused cephalexin paralysis
My dog was given cephalexin (k flex) by the vet and was subsequently paralyzed in his hind quarters from it. I had to do something to allow him to go pottie otherwise he just laid in his own urine and fecees. This support allowed me to hold him up and guide him around the yard to do his business, it arrived fast and is a great help. The straps are easy to get around his hind legs and lock together although they look very uncomfortable he did not complain so he can't feel it. My dog was over 100lbs (80 a week after being paralyzed) the straps held well.Cephalexin is known to paralyze large dogs yet veterinarians still prescribe it without a thought, almost like they are incentivized somehow. When a dog gets paralyzed veterinarians act unaware of the common side effects and claim it was something else, the web is full of cases of paralysis caused by cephalexin on dogs. The paralysis is usually permanent and leads to a pet's death as in my case.Never let a veterinarian give your animals cephalexin out of ignorance, other antibiotics work just as well without the risk such as ampicillin, amoxicillin and more.I like the product and recommend it if your furbabie is in a similar situation as mine.

Not for Small Dogs
If you have a small dog, I would not recommend. The strap that supports the back legs is too wide and if you have male dog, it can cover his, um, "working parts" when he goes to the bathroom.

This was a life saver
My chow mix was struggling getting up and unfortunately continued to progress. This lift support was outstanding and extremely helpful to give him quality while assisting him to the yard to use the bathroom. It was comfortable to use and we didn't hurt him getting up. I would recommend this.

Works... sort of, but design is flawed big time.
The media could not be loaded. This item has pros and cons, but ultimately the cons lead to my decision to return and ask for a refund. This product is definitely comfortable for the dog and works well in terms of safely lifting the dog by the hips, BUT, the overall design is really lacking some things. Firstly, the straps do not stay in place, once you have adjusted them to fit your dog, they easily slip out of the adjusted spot. Also, there is no way to keep the harness on the dog, it’s basically for one-time lifting, each time you have to put it on and take it off, which means carrying it around everywhere. I bought a soft elastic Velcro strap to try to connect it to our dogs front end harness to keep it on her, which actually worked but made things even more awkward, AND we then faced another issue... there’s no way to remove the long handle straps, so it hangs down behind the dogs hind end, potentially causing tangling in their legs or objects in the house. I’ve taken a video to show what I mean. If the handle straps were clip-on (removable) this MIGHT have worked, but overall it’s just awkward. Too bad!

Mon chien commence à avoir des soucis de train arrière. Franchement c'est super pratique.
