Excellent for outdoor cats
I never realized how expensive hay is, and have made the mistake to buy cheaper versions that I had to literally throw away, as they were not appropriate for my outdoor cat shelters. This is the best hay that has supported comfort and warmth for feral cats. Unlike cheaper versions, this does not flake, and the strands are longer and sturdier. This gives cats a chance to burrow in and get warm. I highly recommend!

Getting cold
We use this for the cats outside and works great! Fast shipping and the straw is always fresh. I've never had a problem with this seller. Will be back!

Good Stuff
I read a lot of reviews thru various websites and Amazon before placing my order. The straw arrived wrapped in a bag and was dry (wasn't moist, nor did it have mildew). This is what I read about Home Depot straw, which is true. I went there yesterday and there were bundles of straw in plastic on display for Halloween. The bags were full of condensation. Anyhow, I've been using the straw for about 3 weeks in our backyard shelters for a few young feral cats. They love it and this morning I found one of their toys (a scrunchie) inside and the straw was still warm from body heat. I It seems to be keeping them warm, comfortable, and dry. 😊

I liked it
I liked it, except that it started growing, I guess wheat in my garden beds. I only used it on two beds and it was easy to pick out. Caveat is that I left it outside and it finished its growing cycle I suppose. So now its more useable. Not meaning to make this sound like a negative review. Maybe that is what happens when you get wheat straw lol. I have never used it before. Otherwise I am happy. It keeps the weeds down. Worked good in my strawberry bed and in my pepper bed. Timely shipping and good price.

Good quality, but high priced
This straw seems to be good quality straw, but the price is too high. If I had realized how little I would be getting, I would not have ordered it. I hate to give bad reviews, but this was a real disappointment to me.

Container Garden Mulch
Pros:-Packaging: straw comes in a fuss-free thin plastic bag that I lifted out of the Amazon box and walked straight out to the backyard. Nothing to unzip, untie, or puncture. Easy to carry, too -- light as a feather.-Clean: straw arrived clean and dry, no dirt, and an appealing light yellow color. Looks swanky in my garden several weeks later.-Effective: working so far to slow evaporation and retain water in my garden containers -- has cut down on my need to water via watering-can, which is the #1 reason I bought it.-Gentle/Soft: I direct sow everything. We tend to think of straw as scratchy, but this straw was gentle enough to mulch over my freshly planted muskmelon seeds and sweet potato slips. All came up just fine, no tearing injuries.Cons:-Not a Pest Barrier: again, not why I bought it, but pests had no problem burrowing through the straw to get to my yummy seedlings. Solve your pest problems with floating row covers, not mulch.-Not a Weed Barrier: not sure if grass clippings from my husband's lawn mower flew through the air and embedded in my containers, or whether the straw was contaminated with seeds. Possibly the latter. Either way, I had to weed out some grassy green stalks that sprouted out of some HUGE seeds (only from the mulched containers, and for the first time this growing season, ie: since April 6th.) Still, only a minor annoyance that took about 10 minutes to pluck out.-Messy Application: because it is so light, some bits of straw flew away during application and scattered over the yard. Not the seller's fault, just something to be aware of for the consumer.-Complicates Fertilizer Application: with this product, you need to either move the straw aside (pain in the butt) to side dress with granular fertilizer, or plan ahead by sowing in compost and/or fertilized medium. This goes for most soil amendments done during the growing season. You can always foliar spray, though.Would I buy it again? Heck, yeah!

Great for the community cats.
I have several community cats that I provide shelter, food and water for. My main concern was shelter since the weather tends to get pretty cold in the fall/winter, especially this year. Plus we also have lots of rain. I put the straw in with self-heating pads and they shortly after made themselves at home and comfortable and would stay in there all day except to eat/drink. Apparently they also like to play with the straw lol but it's easy to clean up and it has been staying dry in the homes. Good sized amount than expected and will be buying again.
