End Complete / World Demise

If you are interested in Obituary, I would describe their sound as intelligent and moderately progressive death metal with a more gutteral and abject/pig-gutting vocalist. It really comes together well. It's brutal and gory sounding, not just laden with bloody references.Get this set and the other Roadrunner two CD set. The songwriting is uniformly excellent across all four full-length CDs. Then you have all the essential material from the band's first four albums. The extra tracks included here (and on the other CDs) are mostly live tracks for collection purposes only. The production value of these two CDs, in particular, is top-notch for mid-90's death metal. The remastering is a nice touch, too. Also, the original covers for all original LPs are included inside the case full-size on all of the RR 2-fer CD sets. The guys at RR really have fans/collectors in mind with this whole series--they are all cherry. Plus, these CDs are reasonably priced. There is no reason to buy the old version CDs unless you like the spine or something.Overall, this is a must have if you know your head from your arse when it comes to metal.

Obituary are as reliable as any death metal band can get. Where Morbid Angel and Death are more complicated Obituary gets their sound from the Sabbath days, with thick sludgy rhythms that can be fast as hell but at other times move about the speed of an ice cream bar melting. That's all good, though because Obituary are the doom experts in Florida style death metal. What brings us to these older releases is the "Two From The Vault" series that give us two Obituary slabs for one, and in this case, extra live tracks. It's all here, the trademark yelps of John Tardy, the pummeling drums and wicked guitars with great lead work courtesy of Alan West and a rhythm sound that is not at all unlike Sepultura's "Beneath the Remains" and "Arise" era. But this is not derivative - it's just the trademark sound of classic death metal. While Obituary may not top their warped but seminal debut "Slowly We Rot" or its evil twin second release "Cause Of Death", they don't put out bad records. These two are slamming affairs and help to assure Obituary's legendary status.

I have to say first off that I liked James Murphy on "Cause of Death" so I am VERY partial here. "The End Complete", to me, is the superior of the two albums but has one MAJOR flaw: EVERY SINGLE solo by Allen West sounds the same. It's one thing if it's like Kirk Hammett soloing where every one has the same scale but this guy is repetitive! The riffs are good, the drumming is excellent and, well, the vocals are what I expect from John Tardy. Unfortunately I can't stand the soloing sooo...I hope that Frozen in Time is a ton better! But, these two albums are worth it, that's why I have both of them!

Obituary changed the world of Death Metal. When Death Metal was all fast drumming and lightning fast guitar work, and Black Metal was High Pitched vocals (shrills) and more of the same, Obituary came and slowed it down just a bit, and for some reason if just FIT. What really makes Obituary stand out from the others is the vocal work of John Tardy, who I believe might be one of the best vocalist in Death Metal Genere (second to Chris Barnes) These are classics to have in your collection, and even though I am not happy with the direction RoadRunner Records took over the past few years (the dumped almost all their death metal acts and replaced it with the likes of Slipnot and such) my hats off the the label from giving us the "Two from the Vault Series" Its nice to see that the old school death bands are getting remastered and put out in these collections. Hopefully younger audiences will pick up on these, and ditch their Korn, My CHemical Romance, Slipknot, and other nonsense nu Metal bands and learn something about extreme music. Whats even better is there is another Obituary "Two from the Vault" Series. They were one of the best, and still kick some a** today with their new CD "Frozen in Time" If you don't know anything about Obituary, I suggest you get to know them soon..ENJOY

und das zum preis von 1 regulären cd. das ist doch mal was. zu dem beiden alben muss man nicht viel sagen, denn wer obituary kennt weiß auch das sich vom stil nicht allzuviel ändern wird. und das was sich geändert hat tut der musik auf jeden fall sehr gut.diese beiden scheiben sind nicht mehr ganz so trashig wie die 2 davor, dafür metalischer und eine ganze ecke grooviger.für jeden metaller eine klare kaufempfehlung, gerade bei dem preis!oder noch besser, live schauen ;-)

デスメタルはすでに１０年以上聴いているが、obituaryは一度も聴いたことがありませんでした。どうもデスというとブラストビートとのイメージがあり、あまり乗る気がありませんでした。過去にMorbid Angel「Gateways to Annihilation」を聴いたときに「遅いデスはイマイチ…」と思ったことも一理あるが。他の方のコメを見ているとobituaryは「なんか良い感じじゃないのか」と思うようなり購入してみました。なぜこれを選んだかというと、単にお得なパッケージであり、在庫があったからである。…いや、これカッコイイですよ。重苦しいギターリフや重圧なサウンドに流麗なギターソロ…。ボーカルも比較的聴きやすくて個人的には○ですね。デスメタルをこんなにミドル、スローレンジでカッコよく出来るバンドって他にいないんじゃないか？？？

二枚組でかなりお得!しかもリマスター、ボーナストラック付き!3rdのほうはオビチュアリィの名盤であり初期集大成的アルバムである!アレンの不穏で流麗なギターソロも聴きもの!ドナルドのデスにしては珍しくブラストを使わない特徴的ドラムそしてジョンの内臓を吐き出さんばかりのストロングヴォーカルと聞き所たっぷり!単純に曲もいい!4thの方はサンプリングやグルーヴを取り入れたりしてモダンになっている!
