Easy to understand for the average person
I like this book a lot, because it is easy to read and understand, and really looks out for the “average” person, just trying to make a living and trying to get ahead. It talks about the fact that you don’t need all of the Wall Street hype and fees, and anyone can invest wisely on their own with low or no fees. It also gives you real portfolio models that you can use, rather than the generic “ invest in good mutual funds” statement. I have read the book a few times, and use it to remind me how simple it can be to invest whenever I feel like I should do something more adventurous with my money. There is no need to.

Fantastic Read!
I read this book in 1 afternoon! It gets right to the point and you don't have to weed through a lot of blubber before he gets to the point. I found the information very helpful and was able to put the info to use right away on insurance and estate planning issues. Worth the read if you have some financial issues.

Very Useful Book!
I love this book. It is straightforward and easy to read. Above all it's honest. I have a copy of my own, and after reading it, I have purchased three more copies for my nieces who are just starting out in life. If only I had access to this book 45 years ago when I was first starting out, I could have avoided a whole lot of financial land mines. For the next few years, this will be my standard gift for graduates and newlyweds. I can think no more useful gift for young people. However, I know a lot of older people too who could learn things from this book too.

Useful book up to a point.
The book started very clearly and concisely for a beginner like me. However when it got to the stocks and bonds, the advice was clear enough but the terms were so unfamiliar to me that I quickly floundered. Without understanding the terms the reading was unsuccessful and I had to abandon it until such time as I would be able to handle the concepts.

Valuable basic information about how to spend your money for greatest benefit.
Solin writes in a very clear, concise and understandable manner. Short chapters with summaries. You can read a chapter and learn somethingvaluable before falling asleep! I bought several Solin books for family members this past holiday, and I have read all of his books recently. Ihighly recommend all of them. If you have funds in 401K plans, read his book on this type of investment--soon.

This book is a Great Read
To be fair I'm all over books that teach me something I didn't know anything about before. I'm not a story book person, but onto the real point. This book will go in depth about the stock market and how your broker is fudging you hard and your not getting anymore money than the rest of us! Index funds are the way to go, on a side note Mint is a god send!
