PERFECT REPLACEMENT! It fits my Olivetti "Underwood 21" (from the 1960's) just fine and types a rich, dark black. You can't go wrong with this replacement. Yes, it is plastic, but you are not going to find a metal spool anywhere. At least I don't think so, but you might get lucky. Who cares! It works great!

These ribbons make this all possible. No cord, no battery but this was the go-to portable for authors even today. You must strike the keys hard, but the machine will take the "abuse" and it it very well designed.

I didn't think it was possible to find a ribbon for an Olivetti Lettera 22 but Amazon had it! Ribbon is excellent and works perfectly. We took it to a 3rd grade class for Grandparents' Day and the kids were very impressed.

Maybe it depends on your model? I've got an Olivetti Lettera 35i and it was fighting for its life to get any dang ink on the page. I ripped the paper a few times because I was typing hard, and repeatedly, to get the letters to show up. "A"--backspace--"A"--backspace--"A"--backspace--"A". I finally just gave up when I hit a streak of seemingly no ink at all. I counted because I was already annoyed; it took 17 tries for "t" to appear (and even then, it was barely visible). I've used other ink ribbons and it was fine. I get that this is a cheap option, but are you really saving any money at all if there isn't enough ink to do anything? If you buy it, you're gambling. First there’s nothing wrong with the ribbon. It didn’t fit my spindles on my Olivetti portable. I was hoping it would fit but it didn’t. The holes on the reels were too big.

I have an old Olivetti Lettera and it fits very well. Glad I found this.

Just popped it in, and the ink already seems pretty dry. The tops of the letters come out quite lightly, and sometimes not at all. Disappointed. Considering returning it.

Works perfectly in my lettera 32. For the price I'm very happy with it.
