It was great to read the dedication of a few to try and protect the people, especially the farmers in Rhodesia and the great odds that they faced. Also the skill of the SAS in their bravery and defence of the country, especially Andre and the terror that he faced and how in the midst of all the fighting he was called by the Lord Jesus Christ to honour Him and commit his life to Him.

Outstanding book about some very brave men!
Excellent resource and insight into the ground truth of Rhodesia's special operations units. The amount of detail and clarity in the accounts of the operations made the book difficult to put down. It was sad, though, to read about the sacrifice of so many brave men fighting communism only to be stabbed in the back and sold out. I wish I could give the book ten stars.

Good read
Being an American I did not know much about the Rhodesian conflict so this book was an excellent read. Gives both the operational details as well as geo political background throughout the book. Definitely recommend this book.

Good Read
Good read about the later years of the Rhodesian Bush War. The Rhodesian SAS was one of the finest Special Forces units in the world at the time. They fought against overwhelming odds and carried out some very dramatic and successful cross border raids. C Squadron still holds a place a honor in the halls of The 22 SAS Regiment in Hereford and reminded unassigned for many years in recognition of Rhodesia 22 SAS C Squadrons accomplishments.

This is an absolutely riveting story which escapes the view of 99.9% of people in the US who have a completely America-centric and ultra-limited view of issues outside of our experience. On top of that, “We Dared to Win” will be dismissed by most because of issues with apartheid, etc.I only stumbled across the history of Rhodesia recently and am embarrassed for not knowing anything written about here, especially since my Marine Corps time was just after events covered in this masterpiece. Was blown away by the pace of operations the Rhodesians maintained and the very long odds they faced. Anyone who thinks Zimbabwe is now better off is not a serious thinker. These men, while they were able to operate, held the line against communism in Southern Africa. I would have hated to fight against them.

Good read
This was an excellent collection of experiences from the SAS operators in Rhodesia during the Bush War of the 1970s. I think it gave a good picture of what the soldiers were going through during that war. These were men who were doing what they could to defend their country.I recommend this if you want to get an understanding of what those soldiers were experiencing. It is not a full military history of the war but a collection of memories from several soldiers during the conflict.

A very well written book and a great read. I particularly liked how the authors linked their personal experiences to the context of the political background taking place at the time.

Hereos
they tried to save a country but the world stopped them. zimbabwe is now run into the ground by criminals. This resulted in economic collapse and corruption. They get what they deserve meaning the african nationals

A cracking read.
This is a well written account of the actions undertaken by the Rhodesian SAS & in part the RLI, it very much captures the tempo of operations & the demanding conditions in the bush war. Given what was achieved with such limited resources and such vast land boarders, it should be considered essential reeding for contemporary military personnel. I would like maybe a bit more of the political or wider context against which operations took place, but it is a cracking read.

Rating justifies 5 stars.
As always Hannes Weasels writes the truth without elaboration. This book was needed a number of books written about The Rhodesian War are thumb suck. This one is certainly not.
