GownTown Women's 1950s Retro Vintage Cocktail Party Swing Dress

I ordered an XL. I was nervous about the sizing, the bust size was several inches bigger than my size, but I needed the bigger size waist. It turned out to be perfect. There is a bit of room before the buttons would be struggling, but it doesn't look to big on me. The fabric is also stretchy. I second what others have said about it being a little like swimming suit fabric, but I like that. It gives it some weight and keeps it from feeling cheap. There's a side zipper, but I didn't need to unzip it to get in since the buttons are all functioning. I wore it with a belt and 2 petticoats. I definitely think it looks better with a belt, but the petticoat can be optional. I'm 5ft8in and was worried about the length, but it was below the knee :) The last picture is a close up of some funny sewing, but that's literally the only thing I found wrong with it and it's barely noticeable. If you're on the fence, buy it!

I bought the bat wing hoping it would fit my lean muscular arms and shoulders because the pictures looked great on the chest thought I would be fine on mine. It was form fitting in the : shoulders, front boobs,back, waist and hips. Especially with the pettie coat I had on underneath in the pictures looked great from the back and sides to poof the skirt out a bit . However I am smaller chested(32B) than the picture in description and my boobs did not fill the awkward extra fabric of the bat wing at side boob. That extra fabric + the middle stripe made my chest from the front look flat -not a flattering look. I felt frumpy in the chest area. even though it fit well in the waist standing straight but when I just ever so slightly bent over bunched at the natural waist. If you had a C sized chest this would work . Will be returning it because the awkward side boob and flat looking chest area. My shoulders are: 40" around, chest:34", 32B cup, waist :28 ",hip 38"

Very nice dress. Nice fabric and a nice cut. A bit longer than I had hoped but I'm short so most things are a bit long. Still looks great. I would recommend a belt as a finishing touch but it is still nice without.

Though i love the dress, it's a great example of poor craftsmanship. there are several places where the fabric is a stained, tinged color obviously cut from a damaged area of the fabric. There are two seems. One in the waist and one in the vertical seem in the skirt... Both are curved incorrectly, allowing for a bend obviously not a straight cut from the pattern.Overall it's worth it for a cute daily wear housedress... Because wearing yoga pants daily is depressing ;)

Fits well everywhere (5 ft 11 in,150 lb)-ordered a large. It’s a lot stretchier than I expected, but that’s actually a good thing :) It arrived super wrinkly though and the striping is a lot bigger/wider than what it looks like in the stock photo, (I was hoping for more pinstripes), but it something I can deal with.Also, the description says there is an invisible zipper (invisible is right-no trace of any zipper whatsoever...Luckily it isn’t something I need)

I love this address the only issue I have with it is the bottom of the bodice has a weird gap and could use another button. The fabric is definitely a stretchy bathing suit feel. I wish the pattern was printed on differently because I do feel that over time it may flake. I bought this dress for a halloween costume for I Love Lucy, and I think it will be perfect. I am definitely going to buy more gowntown dresses in vintage styles!

I ordered a size up just to be careful because I've been burnt so many times ordering my size on button up items being too small for my bust.However it is true to size so definitely order your regular size! Its beautiful and looks extra lovely with a petticoat.One thing to note this is NOT MACHINE WASHABLE. Don't even try it. I put it through a wash cycle accidentally and boy did I mess it up. I good bit of working with it (ironing/steaming/sewing) and it's still wearable but not nearly as nice as before.

This dress is just adorable. It was hard for me to imagine this fabric before it actually arrived: it is beautiful! Yes, there is a little stretch to it, but still it retains a vintage feeling. The neckline is perfect—not too low cut. I wore this dress to church yesterday with no petticoat and got tons of compliments, but it could easily be dressed up fancy with a petticoat for an “I love Lucy” look.
