Practice Test for the CogAT Grade 3 Level 9 Form 7 and 8: Practice Test 1: 3rd Grade Test Prep for the Cognitive Abilities Test

This book was very helpful with preparing the COGAT test for 3rd graders.

This was perfect for practicing for the CoGat test. I would recommend this to any parent that believes their child has a shot at AIG. I had my son do the work the school sent home so he knew what to expect. Then every evening leading up to the actual test I had him complete one section of this book. If he missed any I would go back and explain the answer to him and give him a similar problem that I would make up to insure the lesson stuck. By test day he was well prepared and confident. He ended up with a perfect score on 2 sections and the highest tier on the other. I’m proud to say he was accepted into AIG and doing very well with the more challenging work. This book does a great job of breaking down the problems and explaining the reasoning behind the answers. It is not like a typical academic test. It is used to identify more unique abilities and how you perceive/solve problems. By using this workbook you can prepare your child to think differently so they are in the right mindset come test day. To me it was a small investment in my son’s future and I plan to use it next year with my daughter since we didn’t mark in it. Then I will donate it to their school for other potential geniuses ;)

“The CoGAT 3 book is great for preparation for the CoGAT test. I love the setup of the book, the layout of the questions, and the space to make notes or calculations in the side. I appreciate the answer keys at the back that can be recopied and used multiple times. It is good practice for the students and easiest for the teachers to grade. I think the level of questions is great. They require thinking but are not too hard for this grade level. Another thing I like is that they aren’t too confusing. Some books require the students to make connections that I don’t think they are prepared to do at that age.The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I wish it had more practice for each section. The students need more than 20 questions to master each section. I think at least two practice tests for each section would be the minimum. Otherwise, it’s just not enough preparation or practice for them prior to taking the actual CoGAT test. Many of these types of questions are unique to “Intelligence tests” and more practice enables you to train your brain into thinking the way that is needed for that section.Overall, a great book. I just wish there was more of it. ”

This book helps in building the Cognitive Abilities of a child. We bought this book to help my 7 year old daughter and i feel that it was really helpful for her as she could get an overall idea about various sections like Verbal, Non-Verbal and Quantitative battery. This acts like a basic foundation on which other skills can be built up on.

Great prep book for third grade test. We used it about two weeks prior to exam. My son took the test was similar and felt prepared and scored well to get in. Good tool for parents to sit with child and explain correct answers.

The book is helpful to understand what type of questions you would get though I was expecting more of practice tests! The content is really less for the price you pay. My kid would finish the whole book in 2 days. Rest is good just disappointed with the less content part

We bought this to prepare for the test. My 3rd grader loved practicing with these. A lot of the questions were on the actual test and she felt comfortable and prepared. I am so glad I ordered this practice book.

First page I looked at had the Verbal Classification question: Rectangle, Square, Rhombus…A. Triangle B. Trapezoid C. Parallelogram D. Pentagon E. Octagon. Obviously both B & C are equally correct. How many errors does the whole book have?

This is slightly better than other books with 2 tests. Really good to prepare for Cogat test, grade 3/level 9! Some practice is must to clear this test. My son used this one, he mentioned it was interesting, we are waiting for results around December. update" he scored 99% and studied 4 days total".

This is a good practice test. I purchased it for a child to prepare for CCAT (the Canadian version of CogAT). It is good for the child to know what kinds of questions are in a typical CCAT test. Very helpful.

Great material for COGAT.
