I want to use the salt for food. What is the best way to break it up into smaller pieces for a salt grinder?

I use it two ways. One is I filled a mason jar with water and put in big pieces until they stop dissolving. This gives you a salt water brine you can use for cooking instead of dry salt. To break it up for a salt grinder I used a large mortar a pestle. You can also put it between kitchen towels and smack it to break it into smaller pieces. Warning. Your salt grinder better be designed to handle large chunks. I tried coffee grinders and blenders and that won't work. I never search for special grinders for rock salt but give that a try. It is very tasty salt and has trace minerals not found in regular salt. The 10 lb box will last forever.

It's salt, if it is outside and gets wet it will dissolve!
