Solid and Comfortable
I'm trying to re-learn how to roller skate and purchased these pads to give me more confidence. They arrived in a mesh bag, and seem to be of good quality. They are well padded, and fit comfortably on the knees and elbows. The wrist guards have an extended piece of plastic at the heel of the hand for additional impact support when falling, and are comfortable. The hard plastic knee and elbow guards are well attached, and the pads do well at absorbing impact when I've "test fell" on them.I had two issues that kept me from scoring a 5:1). The knee pads have two types of closures; a soft neoprene type material that velcros against the skin, and then an elastic band that goes across the back of the leg on top of the neoprene closure. It folds in on itself and has a velcro closure.--The neoprene material was comfortable and fit well, but the elastic band ended up being much tighter/shorter than the neoprene...so while I can wear the inner set of closures, the outer elastic band was starting to cut off circulation. I ended up folding it out of the way. Unfortunately, I can tell that the neoprene was meant to be aided by the support of the elastic closure, so I worry that it may not stand up to long term abuse. I will end up fixing this myself by extending the elastic band with a longer strip of velcro. I just find it curious that the inner closures are plenty roomy enough but the outer closures end up being short. I know that pads should start out tighter because we expect them to loosen up over time--but I was getting tingles in my legs. Another reviewer found that the knee straps were too tight also, so it seems to be a common theme.2). The elastic closure bands on the knees use a plastic "buckle" to thread through and fold in on themselves to secure. There is too much wiggle room where the buckle is fastened, and the buckle itself can twist and bunch the nylon that it is mounted in. This in itself could change the amount of slack while wearing the knee pad. To fix this, I will need to stitch the nylon close to the buckle, so that it can't twist and then bunch the strap. I do expect the plastic buckle to be the first thing that breaks on these pads--but not for a good while, it's pretty solid.Despite the minor customization that I plan to do--I feel that this is a good product and worth the price. XL pads are hard to find in stores, and online. I'm a girl with big thighs and arms, and these were otherwise very comfortable to use and easy to put on. I definitely recommend these to other people--especially if they don't mind putting about 25 minutes of possible stitching into the project. For around $30 bucks for the set, this is certainly worth my money and time. If you don't want to do that, you can go with a more higher end product for double your money.

Great pads, but one flaw.
Great protective gear, but the plastic brackets that the straps slide in to for the knee pads are very flimsy. Went to put on the knee pad and the bracket snapped when the strap slid in. We returned them and received replacement items right away, but then in the brand new package, the bracket came out already broken. You can see the breaks in the picture attached. The all black (backside) pad was the original that snapped. The black and white (front) pad was the one that came out of the package already damaged.

time consuming overkill in the attachement
The knee pads took too much time to put on. Great idea for parachutes, but I'm too old, and my life could be over while I'm attaching the second level of secure velcro to my kneepits. Fortunately I had a back up pair and they work well with the rest of the set.

A Good Protective Pack
My grandson is a skate boarder. He says that having the knee pads and elbow pads have protected him from seriousinjury when he fell. I recommend parents get this pack for your child who skates, rides bicycles or skate boarders.

Odd fit?
I admit I have scrawny arms, but the elastic won't tighten up enough on the elbow pads. I will have to pin them. But the elastic for the knee pads barely come around far enough. I can get them on, and I am keeping the set, but I have to wonder if I shouldn't have bought knee and elbow pads separately - and tried them on at a store first!
