Runner's World Training Diary

Must have for Runners of all levels!
Perfect for tracking progress and identifying problems in your training routine as well as correcting bad habits by being able to look back and see everything from mileage to your morning Pulse/BP and weight. Love that it has a spot for weather conditions as well as a Racing Results page. Plenty of room to log other cross training activities as well. I've been using these since the late 90's! Much more helpful than just using your phone.

15 Years - All Good
I have used this log book for 15 years and never found a better back when I was still open to switching. I saw some complaints by other experienced runners that I want to respond to. First, I'm OK with the spiral binding going away.. Back when it was spiral as the year went by and the book got worn some pages would start to slip out of the spiral. Nice that the book could lay flat but I'm glad to avoid the hassle. I open the book to log after a workout but I don't leave it around open for any reason. Second, I don't know many runners, especially ones that are serious enough to use a log, but I like the Sunday to Saturday week. I guess I stared that back when I was pretty new to running. This was my first running log and so I just fell into Sunday to Saturday.Best thing about the log: There is one week on two facing pages. This gives each day plenty of room to log info. Typically I log av HR, Pace, cals according to my Garmin, temp. I log mile laps when there is a reason like a pace reocrd. I also add notes about route and sometimes how I felt. I also use this book to log nonrunning workouts. In the winter I will be in a fitness club on the treadmill, bike or elliptical and also maybe doing weight/strength training. This book allows me to log that stuff because of the open format.I like the familiarity of the cover and format and extras. I hope it never goes out of print.

My go-to running log
Great product. I've used the same edition for the past four years, and it has plenty of templates for tracking data, and the weekly log has plenty of space to log multiple runs per day, if that's your steez. I find the design to be perfect for my purposes, and that's why I stick with this edition. Keep printing them, I'll keep buying them. I love my Garmin Connect software, but I also love the ritual and habit of keeping a paper log. Love it!

Have used for years!
My husband has used this training journal for years. He has tried others, but always comes back to this version. Wish this one was spiral bound so it could lay flat.

Very Useful
There are dozens (hundreds?) of online programs and apps you can use to track mileage, workouts, etc. but it's still very useful, quick and easy to write them down in this book. Plus the added benefit of better review and recall that comes from actually writing them down (call it graphitic mnemonic enhancement, if you like).Update the 80's/90's cover shot and we've got a winner.

The best training log!
Have been getting this for my husband for Christmas for 30 plus years! He loves this training log! He’s able to track his fitness routines & also other relevant life events! It’s a classic!

Great Log but No Spiral Binding
I really like this log format and my family of runners have used many over the years. The elimination of the spiral binding is a deal breaker for me. This is not a book you read but a book you write in and without the spiral binding you just can't lay the book flat and therefore it is difficult to write in.

I've been using the Runner's World Training Diary since I ...
I've been using the Runner's World Training Diary since I began serious running in the 1970s. Now, at age 79, I walk rather than run, but I still count on these diaries to keep track of things. The format allows me to use it as a real diary as well as to record daily workouts. I hope they never change it!

Great for a returning runner
My partner used to run in his 20's and at 50 he decided to run again. This book is wonderful and is full of useful advice for new and old runners. Loads of tracking/diary pages for everything so he can track his progress.

Eat, sleep,run,record,review.
For everyone who enjoys running, this diary provides enough detail to record daily mileage, race results and much more information if you choose to use it. This is the fourth year that I have used the diary. Great for marathon runners or those who want to keep a log of training sessions to help with improving your personal bests. I record, physio, niggles and have learnt a lot about my running from this. My daughter has now sarted recording her training in her own log.
