Shorter read, Dense in impact.
I have really seen a change in my own thinking and perspectives while reading this book which has convicted me on a number of levels according to my intent to serve in ministry. Carson does a great job laboring to show the deep impact of the cross in our ministry as well as lives. It is our bedrock, foundation, and hope.

D. A. Carson Knows His Stuff
Another great work from a great theologian, The Cross and Christian Ministry: Leadership Lessons from 1 Corinthians is a great exposition-esque work on the first few chapters of 1 Corinthians. It reads like a regular book about leadership, but has some very strong instances of what is almost Biblical commentary. Overall, it is a great addition to any Christian's library, especially those interested in developing a more Christ-centered outlook on leadership.

Must read for pastors
Carson presents a broad exposition of 1 Corinthians 1-4, 9 with profound implications pastors and Christian workers need to ponder. It's theological, exegetical and practical. His illustrations are helpful and applications relevant. It's a book I would have every elder and emerging leader in my church read.

A completely relevant, up-to-date and topical book for the Christian and the Church today
DA Carson gives a clear explanation of 1 Corinthians and of the absolute necessity of keeping the Cross central to all that we do as individuals and as a Church as we serve the the LORD. He provides clear examples of how this should be done and of the dangers inherent in losing sight of the Cross in our ministry. Be encouraged and challenged to keep CHRIST and the Cross central to all you do.
