LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!
This book is beautiful! This is my 3rd Peggy Dean book and Lettering in the Whimsical Woodlands and Botanical Line Drawing are also wonderful. Those two books got me started with drawing and have helped me improve a lot. I literally couldn't even draw a stick figure before I got these books. The Introduction in Nature Drawing & Watercolor is incredibly honest and really made me think about why creating is important to me. Also, it made me think about my perfectionism and how that takes away some of the joy of drawing or painting. There is a ton of content to help you learn what you need to get started. It includes information about pens, paints, paper and how to put it all together. There are descriptions of different plants, flowers and animals and simple to understand steps to get you started drawing or water coloring. This book would be good for a beginner or experienced artist. If I could give this book 10 stars, I definitely would!

incredible book, just as amazing as expected!!!
YAY, I've been waiting for this book for a few months now, and magically it arrived from Amazon the day it was officially released. I *highly* recommend this book. If you can't draw, you're in really good company. If you can draw, get ready for your skills to level up. Peggy skips past the whole I-can't-draw creativity hangup and dives into the simple marks and strokes that compose art. Her energy is infectious, and her appreciation for the beauties of nature are well reflected in this amazingly comprehensive guide. I pre-ordered this book after drawing through her Botanical Line Drawing book; I picked it up to see if I could learn how to draw simple flowers and ended up learning so much and getting low-key addicted to line drawing/watercolor and nature art. The biggest difference between this and her other drawing books is, to me, that she dialogues through the learning process with you as you go. That's been so great for me, as a learner who appreciates hearing or reading descriptions - even though I know this is al visuals, I appreciate how she explains herself from start to finish. Beyond that, though, I love how she visually breaks steps into simple marks, as each new flower or plant becomes progressively more complex in a way that makes your learning and growth feel sequenced and structured. So, tl;dr: I'm delighted by this book, but more so by the art I get to create as a result of Peggy Dean's creativity, artistry, and talent. If you want to draw, illustrate, or paint nature, buy this :)

Literal perfection.
Peggy Dean writes as though you are sitting down with one another, over a cup of coffee, talking about art and asking her for pointers to help you get going in your own direction. I LOVE this book. It covers everything. Every and any question I had when starting my art hobby is answered in this book, from the best pens, to the best water set up for your brushes. But it's so much more than just that. She goes through techniques, steps, and what works best so that you can ultimately be the best at your art! I have looked at so many art books over the past 6 months that covered different topics and techniques and they had been sitting in my cart. When Peggy Dean released her book, I bought it that day! Everything I needed is in this one book! It's an investment and is literal perfection. Don't miss out! ♥

A guided visual walk through nature with Peggy. Astoundingly beautiful & comprehensive
I have been following Peggy for a few years now and she was one of the first people that I followed when I really wanted to expand my hand lettering, drawing and sketching. Her approach to design and instruction is just pure joy-- simple, fun, and beautiful. I have almost all of her books and this one is just [ w o w ]Its laid out so beautifully and the amount of detailed instruction is astounding. I love how there are just enough visual breakdowns to give you an idea of what to do but also let's your imagination kind of take over. Something I love about Peggy's books. There are so many beautiful florals and fauna to sketch and paint-- and fun facts along with them!! The explanations are like having her right next to you---Way to go Peggy--- this book is astoundingly beautiful!! I cant wait to bring it to my 2nd grade classroom so my students can see it --- we are learning about the rainforest right now!!!Oh and I was not paid to do this review!!

This book is like having a private art teacher!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Peggy’s new book is spectacular! I love nature, so this is perfect! There are so many techniques in here, explained clearly, with step by step instructions. It’s great for beginners, but also the more experienced. Exercises include contour drawing, perspective, watercolor techniques- it’s pretty much all covered. With this book, one can definitely dive into sketching and painting with confidence. Peggy’s words are conversational, and it’s almost like she’s teaching a private lesson right next to you. I highly recommend this book, and her other books are also excellent.

Fantastic resource for all things nature!
From the opening lines, she immediately takes you on a journey into who she is and how she wants to connect with you as a fellow creative. It goes into the hows, whys, and why nots. If you're a beginner, there's plenty to help build a foundation so you'll be confident as you move through the book. She goes into line drawings, on how to apply color, and ultimately encourages you to find your own style. Pages of fun from botanicals to adorable animals to landscapes!

Simply - THE BEST - buy it for you and all those you know!
This is the best book ever. Lessons in an easy to follow, laid back, simple format, presented with real personality and straightforward instruction. If I can make a sunflower with a couple of pens & watercolour, then ANYONE can. Peggy comes across as a true, kind, friendly, honest, down to earth, fantastically motivating, easy to understand, inspirational teacher. Get this book and learn new skills, hone those new skills, enjoy the process and feel like you've also made a friend on the way.

Brilliant drawing manual for nature
Peggy's encouraging words and relaxed style really helped me to believe in myself and give me confidence to start drawing regularly and I have produced some beautiful drawings. The introduction, exercises and clear instructions are second to none. This was a big selling point for me when I viewed the book online before I bought it. Additionally, thanks to Peggy, I have developed my own style of relaxed contour drawing and watercolour.I do however, wish Peggy had included more of her varying styles of paintings and drawings throughout the book. I love her pen, brush and paint palette drawings at the beginning and have adopted the style of loose contour drawings, now I have mastered how to draw a few things from the book. I would however, have liked to have seen more hand drawn finished illustrations of hers, as something to aspire to. At times, some of the illustrations are what looks like computer generated images, hence the 4-star rating. If you want to draw nature though, this is the book for you. It gives you the artistic formulas and tools to become an accomplished nature artist.

Great book
Bought as a birthday present for my 12-year-old son. He loved this book and both he and his 10-year-old brother have been inspired by it to do a lot of painting of beach scenes and maps this summer. Love it! I will also be dipping in from time to time, I'm sure. A little pricey at 15 GBP but nevertheless a good buy.

What can I say.... it’s Peggy Dean! She is fantastic, and this book is well worth buying. It’s great as a reference, but also to go through it, drawing as you go. It makes it all so easy, I’m now drawing flowers etc, and loving it!
