Q: Why do you take Lysine? What does it do for you personally?

Most cold sores/fever blisters are caused by a virus in your system & I USED to get them frequently. I’ve been taking1000mg of Lysine daily for the past 30 years, & as long as I take it DAILY, I simply DO NOT get them!! If I go MORE than 2-3 days WITHOUT Lysine & am out in the sun or get sick, I usually end up getting another one!! When that happens, if I up my dose to around 8000mg/day for 2-3 days at the FIRST sign of a breakout, it STOPS the growth & will HEAL it quickly!! Lysine CHANGED my LIFE!!

Q: what size are the pills?

They are really too large. I have had to take lots of medications, and this size in a capsule is OK for me. But these seem always to get stuck, so have stopped taking them. "Horse pills" is right.

Q: What type of lysine is this (e.g. hydrocholoride). Where is it sourced from? Is it synthetically produced or a whole food supplement?

Hydrochloride this is what I could find on the product:Made in the USA Not manufactured with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nut ingredients. Produced in a GMP facility that processes other ingredients containing these allergens. NOW® L-Lysine is a Pharmaceutical Grade essential amino acid. GMP Quality Assured.. I have used Now brand but on the 1000 mg it was not a capsule so last time I purchased a different brand and it does not seem to be helping as much as the NOW brand has. I will be switching back and swalling pills...they are coated just a little big.

So expensive...but its a waste for me

this did not suit me. I was getting lots of itching effect after Shingles attack.Not sure if this tablet has side effects for me.Dont buy anything without consulting doctors.Its not for everyone
