National Geographic Readers: Barack Obama (Readers Bios)

This little magazine/book was perfect for my son's Black History Month project. The quality of the pictures is outstanding and the content is well written and appropriate for kids. Great buy!

I love these books. I'm constantly looking for interesting nonfiction texts for my classroom. These are perfect for my third graders and they can not get enough of them. Kids are constantly coming up to me and telling me new facts that they have learned from the books in this series. Great for science, reading, social studies, history, vocabulary, etc. Highly recommended!

My students enjoyed the interesting facts. Easy to read and includes a variety of text features.

Used it for Black History Months for my 9 &10 year old granddaughters! We homeschool and loved using it!

My five year old has become obsessed with Obama since we received this book we love it

A nice biography, for early readers, of President Obama's life. The book mentions his time growing up in Indonesia, Hawaii, and attending the Punahou School, his college and law school days, his community organizing, his time as an Illinois state senator and a U.S. senator before his run for the presidency. It talks about him being bi-racial and missing his father. It has lots of photographs to illustrate the story, which is one of its strongest attributes. The author must be white though because she always refers to him as just "Obama"—never as President Obama or Mr. Obama. That feels overly familiar and very disrespectful. I hope there will be a second edition with this correction made.
