Great book for all ages. New readers can find success with the content. The level of this book allows Independent readers and older students to easily access the content and understand the important concepts without reading a book that will require several sittings to complete. ELLs and struggling readers will be able to access content and join the conversation with this text.

The rhyming scheme is a little goofy, but we still love it

Good book for beginning readers. We had to change the word slave to enslaved Africans in the book, but otherwise ... It's OK
