The Moral Judgment of the Child

Moral Judgement
Piaget did an excellent job in this book describing how children make moral decisions. He provides tons of supporting information that makes the readers really think about the way that children develop. The book starts out by him talking about games that children play in Switzerland at that time period. He goes over the different rules and regulations of the games which he says explain how children think about things such as fairness. For example, today, kids in tag may not let the younger children get tagged as easily showing that they have compassion for their younger comrades as well as try to even the playing field.Piaget then goes into different topics and describes why children of that age think the way that they do. He uses simple examples such as if a child broke 50 glasses by accident and another broke one on purpose who is more "evil"? Younger children tend to pick the former and older, the latter. He follows this trend throughout the whole book and covers such things as fate (if a child falls through a bridge did he do so because he was being punished?). Overall the book is very interesting and readable. If you are interested in child psychology I highly recommend it.

Constraint and cooperation
This is the English translation of Piaget’s 1932 “Le jugement moral chez l'enfant”. This is Piaget’s fifth book on child psychology.“The discussion of the game of marbles seems to have led us into rather deep waters. But in the eyes of children the history of the game of marbles has quite as much importance as the history of religion or of forms of government. It is a history, moreover, that is magnificently spontaneous; and it was therefore perhaps not entirely useless to seek to throw light on the child’s judgment of moral value by a preliminary study of the social behaviour of children amongst themselves.”1923. Le langage et la pensée chez l'enfant1924. Le jugement et le raisonnement chez l'enfant1926. La représentation du monde chez l'enfant1927. La causalité physique chez l'enfant1932. Le jugement moral chez l'enfant1936. La naissance de l'intelligence chez l'enfant1937. La construction du réel chez l'enfant

Binding of this books will break if you try to open wide enough to read.
Don’t by this from Amazon. The book itself is a pure piece of shoddy workmanship. I mean the binding, the print, the paper. Like it was made off a copy machine and glued into a book in someone’s garage. I want my money back. That being said, I’d rate Piaget’s work 5/5.

Reviewing: The Moral Judgement of the Child
As a professional educator, it's always great to review and reread the works of the great theorists such as Piaget. I consider him to be the father of educational psychology as well as a a great cognitive theorist.

This English version is old but still very useful when you need to quote this classic in an English manuscript (which is what I bought it for).

Great book, atrocious print quality
The book was obviously scanned and then printed. Letters are blurry and with various thickness. Tittles above i and j are often missing. Text takes like 50% of page's width. Not only is this piracy, but they didn't even spend money to retype the book.
