Like the other reviews said, this is a great little emergency shovel. We live in Wisconsin and have it in our car for some of the nasty snow storms out here. I've also worked with boy scouts and think it's a great shovel to take on winter camp outs to clear small areas. It's not something you'd want to shovel large amounts of snow with, but for emergencies or small jobs, it's a great tool.One other thing to note, the shovel is designed to be a little sharp to cut through icy snow, but you'll want to be careful with that. I cut the back of my finger being dumb when I was using the shovel without gloves. I hit some rocks I didn't know about under the snow and my hand gripping the shaft slid down and hit the back of the shovel with the impact. It wasn't bad, but just a head's up.

The shovel is sturdy and light but the finish of the edges (especially where your hand/glove is likely to make contact) is sharp and nicked and can easily cut or tear up your gloves or your hands. I'll be returning the shovel and asking for a replacement that addresses these issues. I would have given the shovel 5 stars were it not for the edge finish.

Ha ha f’in ha. I live in the Great White North and am at an age when I’m simply done shoveling. Perhaps you know the feeling...However, after some 25 year old boy plows past the front of my truck...you know it requires a bit of something and this little thing is the right tool for the job. Anything more needed and I’m just going back inside and pouring one.Won’t stand up to busting ice flows but why would you do that anyway?Keep one of these in your car or truck and you know you’ll be glad you did (unless you live in South Louisiana, in which case you’ve wasted your cash Cher).

Pretty great little snow shovel. Pictured here, I actually had thrown it in my little commuter car Honda Civic and got snowed in the other night. I used it to dig my car out from where it was parked. Shovel is pretty stout, for what it is. I wouldn't try to use if if you have a full size shovel handy, but in the event you don't, this shovel works great. It fits in the trunk nicely, extends to two different lengths, pretty lightweight and seems to be solid, for now. I will definitely add one to my snowmobile/ATV gear as it would be awesome in those situations.

The shovel is really compact and lightweight, but also strong. I've put it in my car in case I need to dig out during the winter storms we are having and plan to take it with me when I snowshoe. It does not fold, instead, the shovel handle contracts with two push knobs and then the handle nests into the shovel. It makes it so that none of the pieces hang out or catch on anything and it is very flat and compact. Love the gold color too!

I have not used the product in snow yet, but I am wondering about the quality of the product. First product I received, the extending handle did not work well. The button that locks the handle shaft in place when extended would not come out all the way and the handle would not be locked into place. Pushing the shovel down on the carpet made the handle collapse.Returned the item and new item was shipped. Return was easy at Kohl's and new shovel was shipped quickly. On the second shovel the locking mechanism works fine, but the plug at the handle just fell out. There was glue on the inside of the shaft, but that was it. I will use some epoxy glue to put it in place, but I have serious questions about their quality control. Also, the edges of the shovel are a little sharp. We will see if it holds up in the snow. If not, I will return.

We ordered this shovel & it arrived really fast! The shovel is super lightweight but very strong & sturdy! It folds up conveniently small to fit easily into a backpack The handle mechanism is easier to use than other collapsible shovels! I used it to shovel some tight spots after a snowstorm the other day and intend to put it in the car for easy access where we can grab it to take along skiing, snowmobiling, camping etc.

This shovel is lightweight and perfectly sized to carry in my hiking backpack, in case There’s a need to dig a friend out of an avalanche or to dig a snow shelter. When I’m not on the trail, I keep it in my car trunk, so I can clear snow that’s blocking in my car tires. It’s sturdy and easy to use. The handle telescopes out and snaps securely in place for use. I highly recommend it.

Bei den Schweiß- oder Lötstellen sollte der Hersteller auf der Rückseite nachbessern und darauf achtgeben, daß keine Lücken in den Schweißnähten vorhanden sind. Denn hier könnte die Naht brechen, wenn man zu feste drückt.Die Schaufel läßt sich problemlos ausziehen und sichern, wenn auch nur einseitig. Eine beidseitige Sicherung wäre besser für die Stabilität gewesen. Mal sehen, wie lange diese Konstruktion hält.Insgesamt betrachtet finde ich sie relativ gut für die Treppenstufen. Für Wege nimmt man aber besser eine, die einen längeren Stiel hat.
