Beautiful book!
Learning more about the Vatican is something I have wanted to do. After searching and looking at multiple books, I chose this one. Following the history of the popes beginning with Peter, truly helps me understand the faith as it was challenged throughout the years. The pictures and descriptions of the architecture and the art at the Vatican show beauty and historical significance.

Gorgeous coffee-table style book- updated after trip
I got this book at the library prior to my trip to Rome, and the photographs are phenomenal. My kids and I poured over the pictures and studied the diagram of the Sistine Chapel for more than an hour. When I came to do this review, I couldn't believe the price of this book- I would have expected it to cost a lot more. I am glad I read this- there is a lot of interesting information and pictures of things that I won't get to see on my trip (parts of the Vatican that are off limits to tourists). This book convinced me to allot an entire day for the Vatican rather than the half day I had planned. Great book.***UPDATE AFTER TRIP--I am going to buy myself a copy of this book- I was so completely overwhelmed by St Peter's that I forgot to take a single picture, and The vatican was too large to fit into my camera lens. This will be a wonderful keepsake for me-****Note- this book has pope BENEDICT in it, who was the Pope when it was published, NOT Pope Francis

It highlights the great works the museum hold
I was recently in the Vatican Museum and the crowds were dreadful. Just too many people and it is one of the wonders of the world, this museum. When people tell me that they are going to the Vatican Museum, I tell them to read the book and tell them to get this one. It highlights the great works the museum hold. Photography is excellent.

Huge formatting problem on the eBook version.
Someone should check why you cannot reading the text with vertical scolling. Everything is aligned on its side.

Great picture book about the Vatican
I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my mother. She is a die hard Catholic, and was never able to visit the Vatican. This book is the next best thing to being there. My mother absolutely loves this book, which describes the history of the Vatican, and all the popes.

Excellent
This is a beautiful book with a fabulous layout of pictures and text. It really takes the reader on a tour inside the Vatican. There's a wonderful section about the Vatican's first citizen, the Holy Father. Also, the book allows the reader to get a feel of day to day life in this little 'State', by following the activities of several people who live and work there. I specially liked the section on the sacristy of St Peter's. Bringing all the treasures of the wonderful Vatican into book form is impossible, but with Father Michael Collin's writing and the amazing pictures, this book comes very close to doing just that. I have given it five stars for attempt.
