OTC 6522 LeakTamer EVAP Smoke Diagnostic Machine , White

I needed a smoke machine and I needed it quickly. Amazon is the place to go for quick shipping and good pricing. I've found this smoke machine at my local parts store for about $400 more than the price here. Obviously I went with Amazon.Let's get into it:This machine is AWESOME! Pulling it out of the box made me feel like a fat kid in the candy store.Comes with all right equipment except for the flashlight. It's kind of useless for this kit, but I use the UV feature for A/C leaks or when I'm tracking oil leaks with dye. It's proven to be really useful, just not with this kit.The UV smoke is useless all together. The smoke works just fine, but you certainly can't see it with the UV light. The ad is really excited about a feature of there smoke that doesn't work. Just wanted to point that out.If you're going to be diagnosing anything EVAP this is the kit for you. I wanted to get a cheaper smoke machine, but none of them state that they are approved for EVAP testing and putting any more that 1psi in the system can actually cause leaks. And using mineral oil or anything else that isn't approved by the manufacturer can cause damage to sensors and other components.The flow gauge is VERY easy to read. It's probably the largest flow gauge I have seen on an EVAP tester.Overall this kit is exactly what you hope for in a smoke machine. Is it pricey? Yes, but you know for a fact that you aren't going to damage any vehicles you test. That to me is priceless. Up side is that this kit isn't as pricey as some of the other big name testers. This is on the cheap side compared to Redline.If you aren't an auto pro, maybe you should leave the EVAP testing to the professionals. You can cause some serious damage with the wrong equipment and you'll spend probably 3x as much paying to fix your mistake. But if you are an auto pro then you should buy this machine. Totally worth the money.

I’m a Master Tech and I’ve used this every day for 2 years now. It works perfectly, even after being dropped and abused. It’s got everything you would need to do high level diagnosis. It doesn’t have the same bells and whistles as Snap-on but it’s also half the price and portable. And I wouldn’t put money on Snap-on lasting as long and the lack of ultra portability from Snap-on is an issue. To sum up trust a Master, this tool is legit

the leak tamer worked great. met every expectation.bought for evap system small leak troublecode (next to impossible to find) easy to use, connect shop air to unit, connect leak tamer to evap service port under the hood,fill system with smoke (highly recommend doing test with empty fuel tank or connect compressed nitrogen to leak tamer instead of shop air because of fire hazzard) and inspect entire evap system for leaks .solution contains uv trace,use supplied black light to locate tiny leaks. the leak tamer is also great for finding intake vacuum leaks and just about any other situation with a leak in a sealed system.

Very nice machine!, I was able to find right away where evap leak is coming,. Although I recieved this unit with one of the accessories being defective which is the schreder valve service port (6522-4) that is very important. But the seller help me right away to contact the manufacturer to replace it. It takes a while because it's out of stock, but happy that I got a replacement. Now I do not have to remove the whole schreder T-fitting to perform testing. I used nitrogen air to be more safer, but I also tried using it with my ordinary air compressor,..and honestly I feel confident that it was really safe to use it with air compressor too, as long as you use the recomended smoke solution. Five star for me and easy to use.....

Really a must for any mechanic. Finds EVAP and vacuum leaks in seconds! Stop guessing and replacing parts unnecessarily. Worth the cost in time saving!

The smoker itself works really well, this was a shop tool that got dropped from a distance and damaged the control board. Repair from OTC has been a joke, they have had it for 6 months so far. Have a horrendous online portal they want you to use, when you call they give no updates just tell you it will Be done when it is done, Use our online portal.Bottom line, get another brand!

This leak tester works great! So far we have fixed a few of our problem cars with this. Simple to use and very effective. Only downside is the dye does not show up very well

Smoke machine worked fine until it broke. Sent the item to the manufacturer after it stopped working after having it for less than a year. It has been over three months and they have not returned my product. Every time i call they give me a different answer.
