Stay away from the Kindle format! Steep learning curve for total beginners.
DO NOT purchase the Kindle format of this book. The illustrations are always out of sync with the written topic and makes the effort of learning twice as hard. I found myself jumping from picture to text many times and having to find my way back through line of discussion again.Other than that, it has enlightened me with what was once a totally alien concept to me: suspension. Bought this as a learning kit for my entry into full suspension mountain bikes and it has been sufficiently helpful, albeit, at a steep learning curve. There are big chances of comprehension gaps for a total beginner like me: I've lost count of the number of times I found myself staring blankly at the ceiling, drawing in the air just to make the illustration jive with what I comprehend it to be.This book would be perfect if it came with animation (via links to YouTube maybe) to explain crucial suspension workings.

this book does a good job explaining suspension
Overall, this book does a good job explaining suspension. As I am a retire profession motorcycle mechanic, I was familiar with most of it. What I was looking for was in depth discussion of valving stack descriptions with samples with dimensions, which was beyond the scope of the book.

Want to know how high-end dampers (shock absorbers) work? This is it!
There aren't exactly a lot of books out there on how performance suspensions work. This, although focused on motorcycle suspensions can give the reader a better overview of how high-end, adjustable performance suspension systems work in comparison with cheaper, mass-market items. Highly recommended.

Increase your suspension knowledge.
This book has a good deal of suspension theory in it. Some things I never really thought about are explained. I found it helpful to read and reread several of its explanations and to review the illustrations to properly grasp the subject. I bought this as a Kindle book but eventually will purchase as a regular paper book as that is handier when using in the workshop. Obviously this book won't make you an expert on motorcycle suspension but it will help guide you to perfecting the suspension action on your ride.

If you ride and don't have a factory mechanic, you should read this!
Very in-depth physics correct analysis and real life implementation of suspensions, motorcycle specific but general in principle. Well written.

Great book
This book is Fantastic. If you are looking to understand the inner workings & theories on motorcycle suspension I do not think you will find a better book. Having just a little mechanical knowledge and an inclination to liking mechanical/technical subjects you will find it easy to comprehend. If you have no mechanical aptitude, nor basic motorcycle riding experience, obviously you should pass on this.At first glance the books contents may seem overwhelming. But if you read carefully, and make sure you comprehend the concepts BEFORE you turn to the next page (I re-read some pages a few times and studied the diagrams closely) you will find that by the end you have a wealth of knowledge and understanding on the subject.Suspension tuning it seems is kind of a "black art". The right tools, years of experience, experimentation, and knowledge are needed to be a good suspension tuner. If you are looking for a good start to doing any suspension work yourself this book gives you a big leg up on the subject. If you're looking to have someone else do suspension work for you this book is invaluable as you will be well versed in understanding what YOU are looking for, and you will be better prepared to speak the "language" of the subject, as well as judge a good tuner from a "tinkerer".

Great read
Worth the money. Very practical. If you want really understand the hows and whys of suspension this is a great book.If it was possible to gain real world experience by reading, this would be one of the books that would be ableto transcend reality and make it happen.Excellent read and a great reference to have on hand. The book covers the basics through the advanced topics well.Lots of good pictures, diagrams, and illustrations. These reduce the anxiety factor a lot. After the theory there is a large section on actual tear down of different forks and shocks.Step by step photos. Covers dampening rod forks, inverted cartridge forks, emulsion shocks, reservoir shocks, progressive shocks, and more.If you are redesigning or doing major chassis modifications on a street bike you will also wantTony Foale's "Motorcycle Handling and Chassis Design the Art and the Science" to compliment this book.Good riding to you.

Helped to explain Setup and replacing Fork Oil and Dust Seals
I used this book to setup several different bikes and replace the seals on several types of forks.

Good book marred by advertising
Naturally, any company who publish a book will slip in a few adverts to push their product. This one takes the mick though, Every other sentence is a sales pitch and it gets quite boring. The information itself reads like a GCSE revision book insofar as it's all explained in a very simple and easy to understand age if you're 15. For a bloke in his 30's it's a bit annoying and you have to wade through loads of text before you stumble on a bit of pertinent information. There are a few terms in the book which they manage to confuse with each other – sag, static sag and rider sag and seem to interchange quite frequently. It’s not so bad if you already understand these terms but if you’re picking up the book as a novice then you may spend a while before you figure out that they’ve used the wrong term. Also note that the second half of the book is dedicated to pictures showing how to service various types of suspension units with a few “hilarious” snaps thrown in...

Good read
Took a bit of getting into and having read the whole book, I do have a better understanding of motorcycle suspension, but I bought it for a specific job and it didn't really give me the information I wanted.Great theory I suppose and some practical strip down guides. So definitely worth buying if your level is basic as this will help cement the principles.

it's the only book that did the job!.
This was the book I needed to sort my bikes suspension out and a lot more, not too complex and in layman's terms, a very useful book.

Very informative
An excellent book but it is a bit over the top in advertisements for Race Tech parts and service.

Very good look inside motorcycle suspensions
If you want to study how motorcycles suspensions work this book is one of the best (if not the only). You'll find the latest technology. But for a insular european it's a bit racetech oriented and i would have like to go more inside the shims tuning.I doubt anyway you'll find a better one to start with.
