Best under 40mm divers watch with excellent VFM
Since this is a divers watch, hence I will focus on the utility, build and value.Build and finish: impeccable build and finish, exactly what is expected from a Swiss watch. Uses high quality 316L "surgical steel". The metal stap is integrated to the case and is perfectly machined and polished. A domed sapphire crystal with AR coating protects the beautiful dial. The unidirectional rotating bezel is ceramic coated which is virtually scratch proof. It also has an exhibition case back to see the movement which has a good quality mineral crystal.Divers functionality: it's rated to a depth of 300 meters and a screw down crown aids the WR behavior of the watch. Superluminova on the indices and hands along with a pip on the second hand and 12 o'clock position at the bezel aids low light visibility. The luminosity is very good and lasts for a long time. The color is a unique teal which is very cool. I have shared a picture.Accuracy and movement: it uses the Oris 733 Calibre which is based on Selitta SW 200-1 movement. It has 26 jewels and vibrates at 28,400 vbh with PR of approx 38-40 hrs. If you wear it daily, no winding is required. The movement is very robust, can withstand shocks and is pretty accurate. Though it is not COSC certified, which keeps the cost down, I saw it in the range -2/+6 seconds daily over a period of a month, so pretty accurate. The date changes exactly at 12 so that is pretty neat. The movement can be seen via the exhibition case back and looks amazing, especially the red rotor, the Oris trademark. The movement is windable and hackable.Other small but important things: the watch is very VFM. Oris is an independent and respected Swiss brand which makes only mechanical watches. Their quality is at par if not better than Tag Heuer, Omega, Longines, Raymond Weil, etc. The product and movement you get for the money spent is lowest in Swiss watches for watches with similar or lower quality. The case quality, the polish, the dial finish, everything is of impeccable quality. If you love watches then you should definitely have one Oris in your collection.Cons: everything has cons, even Rolex, so ditto for this watch. Integrated bracelet and straps mean only Oris ones will fit. No after market possibility. The straps are costly as quality is very good. The PR of 38 hrs feels low, but that is expected at this price point, but if you wear it regularly, you should be good, else you have to buy a watch winder. Like all machines, Swiss mechanical watches are also very advanced machines and need servicing every 3-5 years. That could cost if you don't maintain your watches well.Final verdict: at this price point and what you get as a package and under the hood of the watch, this is a must buy for watch lovers. Quartz lovers, look elsewhere. Finally, if you do buy it, please register it at MyOris site to get an additional 1 year warranty which will take total coverage to 3 years as it comes with 2 year manufacturer warranty.
